What's on your Sunday Menu RNYers?
This weekend I am trying out some new recipes from my new pickling book, DIY Pickling. I like some of the Lacto fermented recipes in particular, but we'll see how they turn out over the next few weeks.

"Homestyle" pickles sell for $10 a quart here. Even more if they come from hipster-heavy Brooklyn.
Happy Sunday menu folks.
Cereal was always one of my problem foods and I had bought a bunch of high protein Special K early after surgery. Still have 3 boxes. It's all going in the garbage today. I had some last night and it just doesn't make me feel good. It's got 9 grams of sugar and I used to eat it with Fairlife milk and I always thought that was too much sugar so now I had it with 0 sugar Califia almond milk. Still makes me woozy. Next I'll try cherrios as they're almost sugar free but I won't buy it until I'm done losing weight several months from now.
QOTD: My wealthy-self Sunday activities probably wouldn't differ much from what I'm doing today. I'm going catch some sun and listen to the ballgame on the "radio" (MLB app on my IPhone) Where that would happen is another story. As much as I love where I live (big city) there's a beach bum inside me yearning for a Margarita
I'm in the Chicago suburbs this weekend. Met up with some distant cousins yesterday who wanted to see my father's family history files (they - and he - are/were the family historians for their respective lines). Watching them go through his stuff was like Christmas in July!!). Last night I found the intersection where my grandfather was killed (morbid - I know. It happened a few years before I was born) as well as the area where the family's "hobby farm" was (my dad was born in the city of Chicago, but they moved to their hobby farm when he was around 10 or 12. The farm was once out in the sticks, but the area - and the farm itself - have long been replaced by housing developments). Today I'm going to find some relatives' former houses in the 'burbs and then venture into Chicago proper to find some of the family houses there (one of the areas is too dangerous to go into, even in the day time, but others are OK. I'll stick with those!). DH and I had originally just planned to have a general Chicago weekend - enjoying the city - but I got sidetracked by this family-related stuff - although he doesn't seem to mind!
we stopped at a grocery store last night to get some yogurt from breakfast this morning - not sure what I'll be having the rest of the day. We went out to dinner last night with a cousin and I got this chicken cranberry walnut salad on salad greens, which was fabulous but too high in calories - I was about 100 kcal over my limit, which isn't too bad considering, but I need to watch it today...
QOTD: I don't think I'd be doing anything differently today. I'm currently in a hotel room that I got on hotwire for $63, but it's a pretty nice place so I'd do the same thing if I was rich. I don't think I'd ease up all that much on my frugal ways since it's an ingrained habit....and I love getting deals! I'd probably travel more, though - esp overseas - and I'd RETIRE!!
2 years 1 month out
B: Greek yogurt, peach
S: protein shake, coffee with half & half
L: ??
D: ??
(I do have a couple of protein bars with me in case we're stuck someplace with no choices...)
Good morning! Yesterday I kept super busy, but I did remember to eat lunch and stayed on plan. We did some running around, busted out a couple miles at the gym (elliptical), then I came home and worked outside in the garden. I started seeds for fall, carrots for winter stews and roasts, and things that tolerate frost (broccoli, kale, brussels sprouts) and a few things that don't tolerate frost, but can't handle our high heats in mid-summer (spinach, lettuce, peas)
Housework today, which leads me to the QotD: If money were no object, I think I'd spend today reading in a hammock (at least until 8:00 when Game of Thrones is on!). I have a huge stack of books in my to-read pile. I always feel on the weekends, that I like to try to get ALL of my responsible adult stuff done on Saturday so I can relax on Sunday before starting back at work. That didn't quite happen this weekened. Instead I have to do laundry, dishes are piled up, and DH has been going through his clothes for donation, so I'll be running those to the homeless Men's shelter. They are always in desperate need of bigger sizes. Please keep similar organization in mind for your clothing donations, as well as shelters for abused women. Some of them flee with only what they've got on their backs
Breakfast:Green L&F Pumpkin Spice! (IT'S FALL NOW, OK??)
Lunch: leftover pizza casserole creation
Dinner: Salmon, and some yellow squash or zucchini from the garden. I have both in way too much abundance.
Exercise: taking a break from the gym today, but might go for a walk with DH before GoT tonight
Water: goal will be 120 oz. I didn't drink nearly enough yesterday, especially for being outside all day.
Have a great Sunday!

aww, thanks!! Gardening is a fairly recent hobby of mine, though my mom always had some tomato and pepper plants in the summer. My husband (then boyfriend) bought me a tiller for my birthday the first year I lived here with him, and was like, "till up however much of the yard you want!" so I just went to town. It became an almost obsession. I watch YouTube videos about gardening, I have books on gardening. Then I thought...I may as well start canning it!

Good morning weekenders~ Feeling better today, yay! Today we are heading to the park, then cleaning, laundry and maybe a movie out later with my son. Rob is working from home through Wed and only going to Bay area for Thurs/Friday, so a quick trip this week, another yay!
Accountability - I was able to eat normal yesterday. I wanted to eat everything in sight and it was all I could do not to. I confess I ate 5 cheese its. Rob was eating them next to me and the smell got the best of me. That tangy salty flavor was calling - hard! I was worried my weight would jump up today considering I'd lost so much weight so fast while I was sick (13 pounds in 10 days), but I'm holding steady at 183, yay!! Staying hydrated like a boss.
QOTD - Sunday morning - I love a quiet, peaceful Sunday morning with coffee, so a beach house would be ideal. I also love the idea of a big city, walking to the local café for great coffee, a table on the sidewalk, read the paper and people watch.
8mo post op
b-coffee w/cream and splenda, egg and bacon
l-chicken salad
d-pesto chicken
v/l- on track
e-walk the pups
Have a great day all!!
