Hi Everyone!

I love these forums on this site and I'm learning lots. I am reading "weight loss surgery for dummies" right now as well and I definitely need to start a food journal. Fitness Pal isn't cutting it for me right now. I wonder if anyone else journals everyday and has anybody read a book that stood out to them regarding the journey of weight loss surgery. Any recommend any other books?? Thank you all and have a super weekend. :)

It's not how-to, step-by-step, it's a memoir. That being said, Stranger Here by Jen Larsen is my go-to.

I recommend you the book "The Complete Guide to Weight Loss Surgery" by Rebecca S. Sadler. It is a modern and detailed guide. I always tell everyone that it is important to remember that trying to lose weight on your own without professional help can lead to undesirable consequences. I am currently writing a paper for the university, and one of my points is dedicated to the importance of the support of qualified specialists when losing weight. Your coach or specialist should be your main assistants in this process. Do not risk doing it without their help.

I recommend the book, The Emotional First Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebo ok/dp/B0054RXXS0/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=15013 59094&sr=1-1&keywords=first+aid+bariatric. I found some things in it helpful. I read it before and after surgery. I particularly liked the chapter on Exercise.

On the other hand, don't waste your money on The Weight Loss Surgery Coping Companion. Too much of the same psychobabble over and over and very little practical information.

I also recommend the Fresh Start Bariatric Cookbook https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Start-Bariatric-Cookbook-Weight -Loss-ebook/dp/B01N5I6XPN/ref=pd_sim_351_9?_encoding=UTF8&ps c=1&refRID=006289E9GTYD22Z6ATCY. It has alot of great recipes and is written by a chef who has had bariatric surgery. It even has recipes that can be used in pureed and soft foods stages. Another good cookbook is Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery https://www.amazon.com/Eating-Well-After-Weight-Surgery-ebook/dp/B001D1Z7UI/ref=pd_sim_351_10?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=006289E9GTYD22Z6ATCY.

And finally, one of the best things that I did was to start writing in a journal when I had my first consultation. It documents what I did to prepare, what I was doing, thinking and feeling as this journey has progressed. I logged what I ate (I also log in MFP for stats), what exercise I did and my weight. Very interesting even now, looking back.

Thank you! I have the Fresh Start book and I agree it is great. I just purchased the Emotional First Aid Kit. Instead of a journal, I have started a blog on here if you would like to follow please do! I think you are terrific, congratulations on you success!

Full From Within by Dr. Colleen Long is a newer one that I found really helpful. I also liked The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients by Colleen Cook.

Hi! It's me again. I haven't found the right food journal yet. I might have to make up my own, by hand written every day. Studies show that is good for you, it's just all the protein figuring, I find that to be a headache for me. I got the book The Complete Weight-Loss Surgery Guide and Diet Program by Sue Ekscerci. She works out of Humber River Hospital. I love it!
