We are toying with getting a Sphinx kitty!!! My only issue is I've been searching high and low for a 'rescue' and can't find one that specializes in Sphinx kitties! We are the 'rescue types', and really hate the idea of going through a breeder, but it appears that people that have these kitties keep them, because there aren't many rescues around!
I'd love to see her if you can figure out how to post pictures.
The way I do it is I post them on my FB account (I just set the privacy to 'just me' so I'm not bombarding my FB wall with strange pictures), then I click on the picture on FB and copy the picture, then I can just come over here and hit paste... then I will resize it by dragging over the picture until it turns blue and grab the handles in the corners to drag it to the size I want.
All of that is done on my laptop though, I have tried to post pictures from my phone to no avail...
Good for you for staying on track this week! In a few days the scale will cooperate, and the cravings will subside, and that new confidence will soar! Keep it up

Pammieanne! You've got to get one! They are so much fun. We're a rescue family too but it is so hard to find one to rescue (which is great because, like you said, people don't generally discard them like some people will do with their pets. So sad).. We have a really great and responsible breeder in Soldotna, Alaska that we got her from. She is the SWEETEST little baby but she does get a little adventurous and sometimes likes to test the laws of gravity haha. I think that's most cats though
the only big thing I can say is make sure to do plenty of research before committing because they are a little higher maintenance than a lot of people realize but they are sooo worth it!

Pammieannie - some of our cats are purebreds, and I have the same issue about going through breeders. So what I did was contact breeders about any retired show cats and/or breeding cats that they wanted to get rid of. I figured they need a home, so....and this way I wasn't really perpetuating breeding, since I didn't want a kitten. Plus retired adults are a lot cheaper - and many are still pretty young (two of mine were only three years old). Make sure you find a responsible breeder, though. There are a lot of backyard types and "kitten mill" types. Maybe find someone who does a lot of showing in CFA or TICA. Although I'm not sure if this is true of *everyone*, most people who show want all their cats and kittens to be really high quality and well-bred, and they want their cattery name to have a good reputation.
We're definitely doing our homework on them, and the breeders that we've kind of looked into. We are still in the beginning stages though. There is a local breeder here, and I would most likely make her our first choice because I could actually go to her house to meet the kitties. Plus, sometimes one is bred and has a little hair, those are not show quality, and breeders don't want to perpetuate a hairy sphinx, which, IMHO, make a fuzzy one even better!
Not sure how an older one would do coming into a home with multiple dogs. That's my only concern about an older one. I figure a kitten can adapt to dogs easier.

Good Friday morning all~ I'm sad my brother is moving away but I had a very nice time with my family last night celebrating with him. The sister I didn't want to see was great until she said something with the intention of upsetting the rest of us. Everyone just kind of ignored it, but we all felt it. She is something...
Rob arrived home about 11pm last night, so happy to have him home
