Morning All, I am so incredibly excited for your visit, Daze! I can really use this vacation. My transition to the new job has been great, but definitely overwhelming. Which leads me to my first answer for the QOTD1: Part of my new job is to understand all of the laws around legal compliance for all of our schools. I told my boss yesterday that I feel like I got thrown into a Master's level course without ever getting a 101. I have a lot of reading to do so that I can execute this well. And of course I am feeling a lot of pressure because if we don't get this right there are a lot of serious consequences. This goal needs to be achieved by August 22, when school starts! My second answer to the QOTD2: Even though I am still recovering from the achilles and had to put marathon training on hold, it is still a long term goal. I really want to finish what I started, so I told myself it will happen before my 45th birthday.

Accountability: Perfect all day 'til I got home and there were French Fries sitting on the counter. Then I discovered some chocolate that has been sitting around for 2 weeks and I had forgotten about. I am not made of steel, people... But I might be made of FAT because the scale is not happy with my choices.

I'm pretty sure fat weighs LESS than steel, anyway :)

Well it's Thursday menu peeps. Raining here in Illinois right now so no walk for Lily and I yet. Hopefully we can get our 3.5 miles in this afternoon. We may skip the shorter walk before bed though. QOTD goals are to get to the point where I feel comfortable loading and shooting and can start doing cowboy action shooting with hubby, keeping my weight in my comfort zone and finding a hobby I enjoy to keep me occupied and out of the snacks in the evening. Post op 4 years 11 months and weight at 118 today. No extra snacks last night so that was good. Here's the food for maintenance today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 3 hard boiled eggs with mustard D 31/2 oz salmon 1/2 c green beans S sm apple with 1 T peanut butter. Have a great day everyone and make some smart and conscious choices that move you one step closer to your goals! Have a great one.

Yes I seem to be. Got some nice bruises on my arm and leg and a small bump on my forehead. Sign me up for the klutz club for sure--I'm a card carrying member.

Good morning menu folks!

Daisy, I hope that you have a great vacation and enjoy your down time.

I had appointments with my surgeon and my pulmonologist yesterday and they are both very pleased with my progress. The only frustrating thing that came out of the appointments is that my surgeon asked whether I am eating enough because I am still losing weight. I explained that I eat very protein forward and that I don't eat many carbs. He seemed to approve, but I was a bit frustrated that he questioned my intake. I want to use my early days to lose what I can not worry whether I am eating enough.

QOTD: I want to get more comfortable walking stairs. I do the 2 flights to the office cafeteria fairly easily, but I want to be able to do the 6 flights of the building.

Breakfast: hard boiled egg, 2 pieces turkey bacon

Snack: Lemonade protein shake

Lunch: TJ's Balsamic chicken, grape tomatoes

Snack: turkey breast

Dinner: TJ's Vera Cruz swai, cauliflower

Exercise: 2 short walks, deep water aerobics

I just don't understand why a surgeon wouldn't be pleased, that at only 5 months out, you are still losing weight? SMH

Good for you for just doing what you're doing and getting on with it, and NOT using your surgeon's perplexed attitude to give yourself permission to chow down on those carbs!

I had the same reaction. Why wouldn't he want you to still be losing weight???

I think that it may have something to do with the nutrition suggestions that his nutritionist makes. They suggest a certain amount of carbs...crackers, potatoes, bread, even rice...and I just choose not to follow that guidance. For the patients who eat like that, I do suspect that they aren't losing as fast by 5 months. That is in my opinion the problem with what he is telling his patients. It may be a more popular meal plan, but it means that the tool is less effective.
