hi guys! This is my first post.. but I've been a lurker for quite awhile! :)

im one week post op rny.. and at this point feeling a little discouraged! I'm so fatigued and grumpy I don't even know what to do with myself!

I saw my surgeron yeaterday and was given the ok for puréed and have been doing ok tolerating the few things I've tried.. scrambled egg.. puréed chicken. The protein shakes make me nauseated just at the smell!! I'm sure some of my fatigue and grumpiness comes from lack of protein and/or calories!

I've lost 7 lbs in the past week (yay!) making for 27 total over the past 6 weeks!!

At this point I'm just looking for some words of encouragement that I will feel better and regain some energy and control over my life!!

First week sucks. 2nd week's a bit better. It's a process.

Try adding some peanut butter to the shake to change the taste. Even better is peanut butter powder.

Good Morning! I hope you are already feeling better but wanted to take a moment to let you know that I think what you are feeling is very normal. Be patient with yourself-you had major surgery and need time to rest and heal. I know that I was exhausted the first week or so until I could start taking my vitamins and get in a routine. Hang in there-it will get better and these rough days will only be a distant memory before you know it.

Hope you visit and post often.

Hey there! Welcome to the boards. I had my surgery 7/21. I woke up today finally not feeling competently drained. I'm still in the no energy phase but I have 2 close friends that have had this done and they've been very helpful .Pretty sure this is normal and will go away very soon for both of us.

As far at protein shakes, try different brands. My doctor sold two different powdered ones. Both were gross. Celebrate tasted grainy and bariatric advantage was better but still yuck. I found premier protein on Amazon. They sell it with two of each flavor etc. I actually like some of the flavors. They also have a clear fruit punch flavored. It doesn't have as many gr of protein but fiber and goes down well.

I was 246 on 7/7 and now am 227 on 7/26!.

You've got this !our every will come back .

It will get better! Your body is working on the healing process so what you're feeling is completely normal.

As far as the protein shakes go, they're kind of a necessary evil right now. Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are also great sources of protein. You might want to try unflavoured protein powder or some of the clear proteins. We don't have as many options in Canada but I'm sure others can chime in with some brand names.

Good luck! Most days now (6.5 months) I'm surprised at the energy I have.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

77 lbs lost and counting!

Losing the regain! I got this!
