I'm Alive! A few complications but I am back
Hey Guys.
So surgery on the 12th went well was discharged on the 13th. Saw my Surgeon on the 14th. Then the issues started.......pain, nausea, diorreah. Re-admitted to Hospital on 16th and released on the 22nd.
What a crappy ride (pun intended). They still have not figured out what happened but I am gratefull that it has stopped and I can begin the healing process. I was going to the bathroom in excess of 23 times a day.
I got to say one thing tho I am so Disapointed with Humber River Hospital. Beautiful Facility, Great rooms, Amazing staff. However.... You have one of the #1 Biatratic programs in Ontario and you know that at least 50% of the patients come out of surgery lactose intollerant or sensitive. So how is it that you have NOTHING other than lactose free milk to offer them to eat while on Full Fluids. This is knowing a percentage will come back with issues at one point. Had a meeting with the Nutritionist and the options were horrendous. My family had to bring a cooler bag with my food....What if I had no one to bring me stuff!
The hospital was trying to have me eat the following:
Beakfastwas: Vegie broth, fruit sauce, cream of wheat & 1 Lactose Milk.
Lunch: Veggie & Chicken Broth, Oatmeal made with water, Fruit Sauce & 2 Lactose Milk
Dinner: Chicken Broth, Oatmeal made with water, Fruit Sauce & 1 Lactose Free Milk.
No tea/coffee, jello, no soup brought cause they were all made with cream and the big one no protein!!!!!
I am so glad that ordeal is over an I am now on the mend and feeling tired but great. They will be hearing from me.
Make room on the bench I am here!
Shel.

Hi Shel,
Welcome to the loser's bench. I'm so sorry you went through such a rough time!
You're absolutely right; they should have more lactose free options for their bariatric patients who need them.
I'm glad you're on the mend; hopefully things will get easier now that you're home.
Take care,
Kathy
