Road Trip Snacks
I love Oscar Meyer P3 Protein Packs. They are two types of meat and a cheese or a meat, cheese, and nuts. 2oz and 180-200 calories total.
There are also Hillshire Farms versions that have a fancy jerky and a cheese. Similar calories and portion. I don't eat them when not traveling, but they are my favorite travel food. Easy to eat while driving, small for the cooler and actually I find that many gas stations carry them.
Otherwise, I always have jerky, shakes, and cheese. I don't do moon cheese or things like that in the car because it becomes boredom food. Same with pork rinds, I can eat them in a proper portion size outside the car...but not while driving!

Don't go crazy with things. I had my food bag with me on a trip and I took way too much.
Here's what I ate from the bag.
- I had quest chips. They go great with things and really pick up the protein. Though they are pretty fragile. I ended up eating 1/2 a bag crushed into Wendy's chili a few times. I really enjoyed that.
- Cheese sticks - reduced fat
- Almonds in 1 ounce portions
- Quest bars - I ate one a day. I also had protein but the quest bars just worked better on the road. Though I would bring some Premier in the future vs. my syntrax. I ended up buying some at a Walmart and kept it with me. I never mixed up a regular shake on my two week trip. I went with Quest bars and premier shakes. It was just easier for me.
- Jerky in 1.5 ounce portions
- Lots of crystal light. I went through more of this than I thought.
- Maybe add a couple foil pack tuna or salmon pouches as a back up.
- your preferred dressing mixed up in the cooler - I had mustard in their with a plastic bottle of vinegar. I find I hate most regular dressings now. But this is me.
I had a million other things but they just were dead weight. Pick a few things that will be your go to.

Pork rinds! A lot of gas stations will carry this so you might not to bring as much with you as you think you might. Careful with the snacks, they add up! Sometimes you won't even need a meal. Enjoy your trip.
