Sorry but I read it differently, just as I should have clarified I was a revision from sleeve to RNY due to GERD . I was most definitely looking at my long term future with the RNY hoping that at some point I could eat full dairy products and some fats. I hate low fat cheese and would rather just not eat it!! :)

Hi Pammie, went back and read my original post. What I meant was that before surgery and with a sleeve for 9 years, I could eat full cheese, yogurt etc....I am on full liquids now. :)

I am 2.5 years post RYN and hiatal hernia repair. My stomach does not rebel at anything now, but I am not a red meat eater, so I don;t know about that. (I always had a cast iron stomach.)
I usually stick to triple zero yogurt, but bought full fat plain by mistake. I never had it before. OMG it was so good without any flavor - like sour cream - or something else really good. It gave me no problems. I eat low salt everything that is possible, so regular fat, no sodium cheese. I'd rather a small amount of the good stuff. At 18 months, I could not yet eat regular cheese, it just laid in my stomach and I had to sit down for awhile. But cheese is OK now.
I guess everyone's pouch is a little different. Good luck (short and long term)
Sharon
Hi,
I'm almost 6 months out and have no trouble with cheese. I usually get Babybel light cheese or light string cheese but have on occasion eaten the regular string cheese and have been OK with it. I read the labels and try to select the ones that have the highest protein.
I eat steak frequently, but make sure it's lean and I cut off any visible fat. I don't eat chicken skin. I'm fine with ribs, but again, cut off any visible fat. I'm fine with ham. I can't handle pork chops, bacon, and sausage from the butcher is fine but the prepackaged stuff doesn't work with me. Yet I'm fine with pepperettes. The only luncheon meat that I can tolerate is Carl Budding honey ham. I'm half Italian and miss salami but it doesn't agree with me.

I had VSG, but I eat everything full fat (minus the things to commonly buy "light" like cheese sticks and babybel cheese). I also eat all the meat fat that happens to be on the piece I weigh. I track my calories and factor in the cut of meat. I have done this since the moment I was allowed to eat each food and I've lost like gangbusters.
No one is going to take my fat from me! This is one reason why I love low carb though. I have no idea why someone would want to give up butter, sour cream and pork fat for quinoa and brown rice.

I started out buying lowfat dairy products to save calories post op. Eventually, I crossed over to full fat and even use heavy cream in my coffee. Fat is my friend!

Fats were my enemy early on. I could not tolerate anything fried, or mayonnaise. Took me a good 8 months to tolerate either without stomach upset. I still won't eat fried-- just because. Cheese I was always able to tolerate. I have always eaten full fat cheese, but I buy leaner meats. I waited until about 3 months to try steak.
