What's on your Menu today (Wednesday) RNYers?
Not to upset any vegans, but I am constantly amused by those who avoid all eggs because of harming a living thing. I have chickens that live a pretty happy life in an open coop. They spend their days hunting and pecking for bugs across several acres of pasture, and always have fresh water and feed available. They are clearly happy hens! Every hen will produce an egg on a cycle, it doesn't matter if it's fertilized or not. They lay a "clutch" of eggs then if they are so inclined they'll sit on them at the end of the cycle (about a month) to incubate then hatch them. Most hens will never bother with the sitting part... and of course if the eggs aren't even fertilized they won't develop into a chick... so how the hen is being "hurt" by taking her eggs is kinda difficult to discern. I at least get the theoretical harm done to a fertilized egg by preventing it from developing, although that is still pretty hypothetical... I've always wondered what a vegan would do with all the eggs a pet laying hen leaves around the yard? To you bury them?
Now don't get me started on the plight of commercial livestock. I won't buy eggs from the store if I can avoid it because those cage free eggs come from horrific industrial farms where all the hens are crammed into a big barn with no access to grass or bugs, just feed water and poop. I get THAT reason, as well as those who just don't want animal fats in their diet. Legit.

Good morning! So my daughter is on the commuter train by herself for the first time in her life. My childhood friend's twin daughters are visiting from Newfoundland, and staying at my husband's cousin's house. They are 10 days younger than Chelsie and the all get along so well. Anyway, they were with us at our convention on the weekend, and Chelsie really wanted to see them before they leave tomorrow so she's on her way. She will stay down there until Sunday as we are headed there for a birthday party. Confused yet, lol?
QOTD- This time of year, I don't usually see the sunrise or sunset - the sun is up by the time I leave the house. However, that will change and for a good part of the year, especially winter, I see both.
Accountability- Stayed on plan, didn't eat anything I wasn't supposed to although I did switch out m leftover chicken thighs for chicken stir-fry and I did my workout.
Menu:
B: Protein shake
L: Leftover chicken thighs that I didn't eat yesterday
D: Up in the air- maybe more chicken thighs- it's bible study night so it's busy for us and I think it will be leftovers for everyone.
Snack- Skyr yogurt
Scale was at 198.5 this morning. A bit discouraging, but predictable. I'm learning how my body works haha, and next week I should be back to losing again. Really anxious to get to 100 lbs lost. I'm almost in to the overweight category for BMI- Obese class 1 now!
Have a great day everyone.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
It's funny how we all understand what a celebration these milestones are where others (the always skinny ones like my DH and SIL) would think we were crazy!

Here's the food plan for maintenance today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese and 1hard boiled egg D 31/2 oz strip steak 1/2 c Italian cut green beans S sm apple with 1 T peanut butter. Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices that move you one step closer to your goal!
Morning menu peeps!
You picture is beautiful, Daisy!! I am lucky in that where I live (in the flat flat plains) I get to see a beautiful sunset just about every night from my front porch, and if I pay attention in the morning I can watch the sun rise from our back porch. I'm awake for both, but I generally don't pay enough attention to the sunrise because I'm getting ready for work. I really should slow down long enough to enjoy it at least once in a while.
Accountability: I added a power crunch bar last night. But I don't feel bad about it, I bought it at lunch yesterday with every intention of having it at home last night as a healthier option if I needed it. Still not the best option, but at least it was a controlled snack. I like that. Dinner last night turned into me ordering wings from the place in town. I ate 4 of them. They were garlic Parmesan, so not a bad choice overall.
Weight this morning 139.4 Over a year out... Mostly eating a maintenance diet - but still flirting with trying to lose another 5 lbs. Just need to decide to do it!
B: Shredded beef 3.5 ounces/ but first 24 ounces of coffee from the gas station!
L: Those leftover wings 4 left
S: Cheese stick
D: making the taco meat tonight, and I'll make a taco bowl, no tortilla
S: Latte love!
