One of my two Siamese cats wakes me up by sitting on my shoulder (I'm a side sleeper) and peering into my face very, very loudly!

Mine does that to me if I'm sleeping on my side!

They're so funny, aren't they? Mine reminds me of Snoopy in his I-am-Vulture mode when she does that!

Uhg I'm glad you are getting some results but it must be so frustrating to not have a simple quick fix. You are a trooper to be sure.

Morning guys!

Having a bite to eat and waiting for my son's transportation to arrive for school. Yesterday was stressful...for a couple of reasons. I had my rheumatology follow-up to talk about going forward with my diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis. Because of my bypass my options are pretty much injectables - I can't take methotrexate because of my pouch. So my options were inject myself every couple of weeks with humera, or do remicade infusions every 8 weeks. I'm opting for the infusions as I'm not keen on poking myself, and the remicade is weight-based....since my weight is in flux it will be good to have it measured each and every time I go in. This probably sounds weird but I left the appointment feeling old.....like I've finally reached a point that I remember my parents getting to where you have to actively treat issues out of your control so you don't end up a bigger mess down the road. I hope my son doesn't get psoriasis, the last person in our family who had it was my great grandfather. My others stressful moment was when there was a mixup with my son's transportation and he didn't get home from school until quarter to 5....that's such a long day for him, so I'll be picking him up from school in the afternoon going forward.

Accountability - Doing well, but I absolutely have to add in some more fiber. I swear I swing to extremes.....if I use miralax I go too much, if I don't...well, I don't go! I've been adding benefiber to my water and I made some protein rolled oats yesterday.

QOTD - I rarely see either currently because my mornings are spent getting my son ready to head out the door and my evenings are often spent getting him ready for bed!

Menu:

B: Fairlife milk w/protein oats

S: Laughing cow cheese

L: scrambled egg w/cottage cheese

S: Syntrax protein

D: Tilapia

Have a great day guys!

I understand what you mean about treating things out of your control as I've had rheumatoid arthritis since I was in high school. I had a terrible time getting it diagnosed because of my weight and the fact that it is seronegative, which means most times it does not show up in my blood work. Because I was obese all the doctors I saw even rheumatologistS told me the weight was the problem. Finally athe age of 30 I found ano orthopedic surgeon who would listen and scoped me and found I had zero joint cartilage in my knees on either side. I then had patella femoral replacements to both knees. In 2007 the right knee failed and I had a total replacement done on that side. In 2012 I was debating having a total replacement done on the left but had gastric bypass instead. Best decision ever. Losing 160 pounds and keeping it off 4 years has made the knee pain go away. My RA is well controlled now on injections of Humira every 2 weeks and most days I have zero symptoms. I went the injection route because I have tiny unstable veins and the infusions were a nightmare for both the infusion tech and me. I'm pretty sure he regretted his choice of career every time I darkened his door. I was fearful of injecting myself but it was very easy to learn and you don't even see a needle at all. It's also more convenient for scheduling when we travel. If I need to do a shot while we're gone I just put it in the frig in the camper--no big deal. You'll be just fine and will feel so much better when you get treatment going. Having a good rheumatologist is so important--they really need to listen to you. The pain is something only you can feel and can relate to them but then they have to listen and help. The first one I saw had no compassion so that didn't last long. I was the first patient my rheumatologist had who had weight loss surgery. He referred me at my request and now has referred 6 other people. He calls me skinny mini now every time I go to see him. He getting older and I really hate the thought of having to find a new doctor!

I actually had assumed that my ankle troubles were related to being heavy for so long, I just happened to ask my son's dermatologist a question regarding my psoriasis and it led to her asking if I'd been having any trouble with my joints (as a matter of fact YES) and she referred me to a rheumatologist. I talked to my doctor today, at length, about the infusions versus the injections. I'm fortunate that my insurance will cover either choice, so we're going to go with the infusions....if I have a problem with it then we can switch. We also talked about scheduling it around going out of town (which I asked about because I'd read your post....just didn't have a chance to respond until now...so thank you!). I need to get farther out from surgery before we start - we agreed on September since I need to be at least 6 weeks out, plus be available to do the 0, 2, and 6week infusions and I'm going on a trip mid August to visit family back home. Crossing my fingers this will be a good thing overall!
