Good morning menu friends. Early post for me today for a change.
My blood pressure has been kind of low since Monday ( that's when I noticed it anyway). Not feeling well, light headed - dizzy when standing or bending over, feeling a little nauseous. Had the nurse at work check for me on Monday and Tuesday. Monday was 98 / 64 and yesterday was 108 / 68, Monday was about 5 hours after taking my A-Fib heart medication and Tuesday was before taking it per her suggestion. I will have her check it again this morning before I leave. I have a call into my cardiologist, so hoping to hear something today on what I can do to help this.
Accountability - I changed quite a bit of my menu yesterday - but for the better. Did not end up having a drink last night figured I didn't need one with my blood pressure being funny, that and didn't feel real wonderful. Planned totals / actual totals:
Calories - 748 / 517, Protein - 113 / 86, Carbs - 24 / 21
QOTD - On the day/ nights that I work I see both the sun rise and sun set on the way to / from work. My sunrise was really pretty this morning also, and the sky around it looked pink too.
Todays Menu:
B - 1/2 Protein shake w/ iced coffee
B2 - 3.5 oz. Shrimp w/ ****tail sauce, 1 mini cucumber
L - 3.5 oz. pork loin
D - 3.5 oz. Chicken breast, baby bella mushrooms w/ laughing cow cheese wedge
S - small spinach salad w/ mini cucumber, 8 grape tomatoes
S2 - 1 skinny Margarita (after mani/pedi's w/ the girls if I'm feeling up to it)
Totals: Calories - 650, Protein - 91, Carbs - 19
Have a great day everyone!!

Low BP in general, and orthostatic hypotension in particular, are super common during rapid weight loss. More fluids and salt will help.

I was one of the rare ones who needed her BP meds in the hospital right after her surgery. My BP stayed high for over two months, and I check it twice a week. Then about a month ago, My blood pressure that had been 135/90 give or take a few numbers since my surgery, was 96/60. I took it again in two days and got a similar result. I took myself off of the BP med (12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide) and it has been reading in around 105/65 ever since. I had an appointment with my new PCP a week later and was asking why it would drop pretty much over night? She and I laughed that it must have somehow known that my BMI had moved from Obese to Overweight that same week. But really she had no explanation other than what Grim said, it can happen in rapid weight loss.
I hope you feel better!

Thanks. I have never taken meds for high blood pressure. I take the medication to keep my heart in rhythm from atrial fibrillation, I guess it causes blood pressure and pulse to lower...which never effected me before. They actually started me on this medication the last time that i lost weight on my own and I had gotten down to 145 pounds. I have been on it since 2010 and this has never happened before.
