Day of Surgery 7/17/17

I am finally home after an overnight stay at the hospital. My doctor Stanley Hoehn, and nurse staff at The Bariatric Center of Kansas City were first class all the way. I am in pain but tolerable pain right now. Suprisingly there is no complications and water ais going down easily and so are the sf popsicles. I dont feel any different but I know ive changed on the inside for the better. I look forward to dropping as much weight as I can in the next few months. Starting Weight 415. Weight at Surgery 375. Goal weight 250.

Current weight is 380. Gained 5lbs while in hospital, but from what I read on this site that is typical. I will continue to walk and sip my water and eat popsicles for the next week, then on to pureed foods.

Congrats, you are now on the other side. Sip, walk, rest and repeat. You will do great.

You'll likely be 365 in a week.

I'd be very leery about tossing out arbitrary predictions for a new post op. I know it would mess with my head Terribly if I wasn't 365 in a week. (But Scott said...)

Everyone loses at different rates, everyone. I was one of those higher starting BMI's where weight was supposed to fall off like magic initially. I lost 9# that first week, nice, but hardly magical IMO

Well if he loses 9 plus the excess fluids he'll be at 366 !

Excellent! Most people have no problems.

Drink as often as you can. You'll be really glad you did this.

Yes, "Home Sweet Home" but I liked "Hospital Sweet Hospital" better. I gleaned the nurses for as much insight as I could asking question after question. I was a patient from a Monday to a Thursday; hearing their voices at the nurse's station was like hearing angels seeing me through to a better life. I still walk the WLS wing to see their faces, hear their voices, and leave an updated note of never-ending gratitude. It's a small facility in a small region with the same 'ol employees that stay on and on and on. Angels---no other way to describe them. Glad you feel the same.
