Home, weight loss, prognosis
Hello. I'm home and doing better. Minor annoying breathing discomfort and pain but better than I've been since June 7. Long term I may have to deal with the discomfort but it's not life threatening.
In good news I've lost 30 pounds since surgery and 40 since optifast. Month 1.5 down, the rest of my life to go.
I read the other post about what not to eat and I've had a few crackers and diluted juices and things on my list that are on the no list. I haven't been feeding myself much as I've been in the hospital so much so how do o start? Doc says go to solids but I'm scared. Yikes.
Also thank you all so much for the well wishes and support. I really needed it and it made such a difference in a positive way for me.
3 cheers for coming home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you stay there!
Congrats on the loss. Technically I guess you're at solid food stage but personally I'd start with full liquids anyway. Lots of puréed soups and protein shakes.
Twill007,
Thank you for taking the time to update us.
Hooray! Glad to hear you are home!! I am so pleased to read you are doing better and you pain is not as intense.
Take your time introducing new foods. You may need to start at the liquid or soft food stage. Do what works for you.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers and send positive thoughts your way.
If I were you - I would start slowly but I would try to get as much proteins as I could. Protein shakes, chicken or beef stock with added unflavored proteins - those would be on my list in probably first few days . I would aim at 120 gr + of protein per day. Adding good fat like coconut, butter, avocado...full fat yogurt etc.
I would also get as good probiotics as I could afford (i.e VLS-3 - you have to ask for it - Costco has that - they keep it cold - so you need to ask for it) and take that daily, to rebuild the gut bacteria after so many antibiotics.
Good luck.
