Hi, Everyone!
I've read through some of these menu threads, but have never posted. Have exchanged conversation with a few of you. I like this thread because it is a safe place to "confess". It seems like admitting a flaw outside of this thread invites a great deal of shaming and criticism, in my experience: You are only three months out from surgery and you put that in your mouth?? WHY would you do that?
Well, I do know what does and doesn't work for ME. And, I'm also human, and of course eating disordered (as are we all, I assume?), which is a lifelong struggle. I have read comments here about knowing when one can control and when one cannot, and I thought EXACTLY! But, you can't tell some people that. Food addiction is not like alcohol addiction; you can't just STOP eating. You can work at avoiding those foods that trigger a binge (cereal for me), but you have to eat to live.
With that said, what I miss most is crunching. Early on, I would have a plain rice cake daily for the "snack crunch" effect and it also calmed my tummy. I crunch on dill pickles as I seem to be able to eat them endlessly. Same with romaine and cucumbers. My husband bought a theater popcorn maker. He discovered that re-popping the unpopped kernels yields a small, nutty treat that I love. The past week I have allowed myself to snack on a cup of this, which is all my tummy will allow. It is satisfying and has not interfered with weight loss. I have a few times dipped a handful of popcorn from my hubby, but it is one thing that I can have a little of and let it go. That works for me. I get it if it is a trigger for others. It's not for me. I like that you folks here understand that concept. There are many things I can take just a bite of and be happy with that. Anyway, at this point, I'm not good at planning a daily menu. I tend to eat what appeals to me at the moment, and I also only eat twice a day as I just can't seem to work in snacks. It's still hard to get in all the protein I need. I find myself drinking a PP before bed to get enough.
For today, my plan is
B Egg Salad
S PP
L Salmon Patty
S PP
D 3 oz. Tuna salad w/ dill pickle and mayo
V All in
E Sedentary but plan to get on treadmill today
I always bruised easily. I haven't noticed if I still do since surgery. Have a great day everyone! Stay cool and hydrated.
