trip to ER=emergency surgery=INTERNAL HERNIA
on 7/15/17 7:55 pm - Canada
Im 1,5y from my RNY lost around 130p, since Tuesday I was in constant pain, less or more intense. More intense after eating solid food, not so bad after drinking, no nausea, no vomiting, no constipation . On Thursday I was done with pain, so I went to ER(same hospital where my surgery was-St Joe Hamilton,ON) after X-R, blood work, urine,CT-scan, talking with my doc who did my first surgery-decision- surgery and I was like maybe next week? and he is like "No in 2 or 3 hours".
So I went from ER TO OR almost right away. They told me that probably I have twisted intestines, because of how much weight I have lost(when you loose a lot of fat there is more room and insides can twisted-the simplest explanation) and it can be easy or more complicated. My was easy laproscopic around 40 min and I was out in recovery room, went home today(saturday),I have a little bit of pain and nausea, but overall I feel good.
My advice is if you have pains(left side around your rib, pains that move from your stomach to your back, pain can be intense or dull- feels like a bad gas pain but gas-x won't help and overall you feel like crap do not wait too long go to ER.
Heal quickly!

Yeap. Good cool. I had 3 surgeries over 4 years to fix that. The last one was because my intestines "flipped over" creating 2 kinks - spots that were too narrow for the food to pass without pain.

OMG, so scary. So glad your surgeon caught it in time and took care of it.
It sounds a lot like what can happen with standard poodles; they can get twisted intestines too and I always lived in fear of my dog getting it. I had no idea it could happen with us, too.

If it's OK to ask, did you start this off with severe pain that then became as you described. I am in the process of testing, so far everything but internal hernia or intussusception (usually a pediatric condition but something that happens to by-passers) has been ruled out :( In either of these remaining conditions, mine would have been minor and resolved itself, for now.
Hope your recovery is smooth and quick!
Yes, I've had two surgeries for this. I definitely agree that pain should be evaluated sooner rather than later. Glad they got you fixed up!
