3 week post op Dr appointment
Hi everyone! I am excited to share that at my 3 week po doctor's appointment I have lost 31 lbs since RNY surgery on 6/22/17!! I feel so good and am having no complications. I am disappointed that the doctor would not release me to swim in the pool yet as it is a public pool and my incisions are still healing. She said I needed to wait a week or two before getting in the pool. The surgeon had suggested I could probably swim at 3 weeks so I am a little disappointed and wondered what your experience had been after surgery with being released to swim in a pool. Thanks everyone for your support!

The only difference between "extraordinary" and "ordinary" is that little "extra"!!
Its typical to not be allowed in a public pool post surgery for anything you have incisions or open wounds for. You could pick up bacteria and infection, and also, any unhealed incisions could ooze, and be a health concern for other pool goers. I feel your pain--I love to swim! Just have to be patient and wait for your incisions to heal over, unfortunately. It was the same story for me for 3 other surgeries I've had in the summertime. I have a knack for summertime surgical emergencies, apparently!
Kind of glad that my surgery probably wont be until Jan/Feb next year. As anxious as I am to get this 6 month evaluation over, at least there's nothing fun to do in those months, so sitting around healing won't be so bad :P

I was released to be in the pool at 4 1/2 weeks when my incision was completely healed. I was released for gentle water aerobics at 6 weeks. I love my pool time so I can relate.

Congrats on the AMAZING loss; wow! Good for you!
I had to wait over 6 weeks to get into the pool because I'm a slow healer. I love swimming so understand how you feel, but hang in, you'll get there.
