How long did you feel agony with every movement?
I am 9 days post op from revision surgery (VSG to RNY). I am in so much pain as if all 7 stapled incisions are ripping apart every time I get up or down or shift. I'm walking 2,000 steps and drinking protein and clear liquids. I don't know what else to do but I need some encouragement as I'm in tears right now wondering why I ever thought this was a good idea. I started at 340 so I know it's working between the pre op liquid diet and liquids since surgery but this pain is all but unbearable. Any suggestions on how long it's this bad? I can't even be by myself yet.
I had a revision and was never in "agony" not even immediately after surgery.
Are you taking your pain pills as prescribed?
UPDATE: thank you all so very much for taking the time to respond and share your experiences and suggestions. As the pain continued to be unbearable this morning while on my walk I took your advice and call the surgeons office. I was immediately connected to one of their PA's who told me to go back to the ER at the hospital I had my surgery as my surgeon was there today. She was calling ahead to alert him of my arrival. I'm a two hour drive there but they knew I was coming and took me back right away. Long story short, bloodwork was great, I'm hydrated and protein is good. Physical exam was good with exception of the painful site. Conclusion: some bleeding during or after surgery has been absorbed by a muscle causing the excruciating pain. It will work itself out but it will take time. They've increased my pain meds to every 4 hours for at least the next 48 hrs and i have my post op appointment on Monday anyway to get everything checked out again and hopefully staples out! Thank you all again! I have peace of mind that it isn't anythinf severe and it will get better!
