regretting this RNY so much
I'm sorry you're feeling so awful, but like the others have said, it will pass.
I was lucky that this only happened to me a few times. Once I was in line at the dollar store and the display of chocolate coated marshmallow treats next to the register had such a strong smell I almost got sick right there. Thankfully the lady ahead of me only had a few items and I got past the smell quickly enough to not make a scene.
I also couldn't go anywhere near the food court on my mall walks in the winter as the various food smells either made me nauseated or ravenous, depending on the day, lol. Once I saw a display of chips, and gave them the finger, without consciously thinking of doing it. The surgery does weird things at first, lol.
I never wanted food either and had to force myself to drink down my two premier protein a day, then the yogurt, broth, etc. It was like a full time job, it took so long to get the protein and water in. Then I either LOVED yogurt or HATED yogurt and had no idea which it would be, day by day. Same thing with cottage cheese (which I haven't had in a few months because the last bite of it totally nauseated me so much I haven't been able to go back to it, lol).
Hang in, and like others have said, ask your doctor for something for the nausea. No need to suffer if they can give you something to help you through this part.

Thank you everyone I did call my doctor and they called me in some zofran and I took it and thank god no nausea. Hopefully I can get a few things in me to eat today.
My dr gave me nausea medication too! I don't know what I would have done without it. Once that was over food, water, nothing tasted good for months. That is actually a good thing. I'm over 9 months out and I have days where nothing tastes right, or something that tastes good now won't 3 weeks from now. I'm taking advantage of that, taking the vets advice regarding the honeymoon phase of our surgery. Just get in your water, vitamins and protein and you will do great. Good luck and keep us updated!

While I didn't deal with nausea at all- I had frequents bouts of food apathy. Unless your in some really low percent where it doesn't-- it gets better. It get so much better that some days you'll long for the food apathy to return.

You beat me to it, lol, Zofran was my friend at this stage. I still keep some for those really awful pouch days that sneak up on me. I had nausea a whole lot also. I still get it occasionally. Zofran is amazing as long as you aren't using it all the time.

Hi
I have been sharing my blog entries from 13 years ago on the main forum and my first few months will make yours feel like a party. That being said I would go through it over and over again. It not only saved my life but gave me a life.
Hang in there, it will get better. Anytime you want to vent we are here!

This too shall pass. I was nauseated my first four months, all I could get down were my "gag" protein shakes and fillet of sole or similar fish. I've lived to tell the tale 7 years later. Have patience, be gentle with yourself, and take it one day at a time.
