haha! I was talking to my daughter about that the other day- the aversion to eating in public when you are fat, feeling like you needed to act like you didn't eat much. "Gee, I don't know why I weigh 375 pounds, Ihardly eat a thing!"

OMG you guys = the Low Carb Cafe we went to last night was great!! I had Asian meatballs over zoodles. The meatballs would have been great on their own, but the zoodles were sauteed in a ginger/tamari sauce - so they were great, also. I need to check to see if Trader Joe's has frozen Asian meatballs (sounds like something they would carry..) - if not, I noticed a lot of recipes for them online. I could make a bunch some weekend and freeze 'em. My friend had pad thai - also made with zoodles. She loved her dish, too. The portion sizes were good, too. It was human-sized (as opposed to two or three times the size anyone should eat) - although that's still too large for a lot of WLS patients (although zoodles compress down to pretty much nothing in your stomach). I ate all of mine and was full for the rest of the night (zoodles plus five meatballs that were about 1" in diameter).

QOTD: I guess it would be spending a few minutes each day putting crap away and cleaning before it gets out of hand and I have to spend a whole weekend doing it....

2 years 1 month out (maintenance):

B: homemade Greek yogurt, 1 T pomegranate seeds, 10 raspberries

S: coffee with half & half, SF frozen protein mocha latte

L: meeting a friend at a Mexican place. Probably my usual two tacos

D: 2-3 oz sirloin steak with mushroom sauce, salad

probably another yogurt if I can afford the calories

I know it's not the same, but I made a version using bean sprouts instead of noodles and it was tasty!

Hello all - thought I would get my post done this morning before I go to bed.

Accountability: only ate what was on my planned menu.

QOTD: Exercise definitely. I need to get into some kind of exercise routine. On the days that I work I really don't have time to exercise. As it is I get 6.5 hours of sleep when I'm working, so literally I have no time. That means that every other week I can only exercise 2 times a week. But the other weeks I have 5 days off so there is no excuse for not exercising. I just need to get started.

Today's menu

B - Venison hot link

L - Salmon Burger

D - 3.6 oz. Shrimp w/ ****tail sauce, green beans

S - small lettuce salad (lettuce only), 1 mini cucumber, salsa w/ ranch

S - 3.6 oz. Shrimp w/ ****tail sauce

Calories - 561, Protein- 84, Carbs - 27

Edited to changer S2 from iced carmelicious blender to shrimp with ****tail sauce and adjust totals. Made my own iced coffee with no cal syrup.

Have a great day everyone!!!

I like the accountability section especially right now while I feel like I'm "training" for surgery. I know my food choices will change further once I know what it's like to have restrictions, but at this point I'm trying to get into the habit of sticking to a plan and identifying problem areas.

so for accountability, I donated blood yesterday at work and forgot about needing a bit of a sugar boost afterward. So I had 4 oz of orange juice, and a snack sized bag of Cheez-Its. I passed on the cookies and donuts, however, though I was sorely tempted to line my pockets and take double fist fulls back to my desk :P I don't feel guilty about this stray from plan, just annoyed at myself for forgetting that I'd be having the carbs.

Today

breakfast: one hard boiled egg with cottage cheese and a few cubes of fancy aged white cheddar bought on vacation

s: 1/3 c dry roasted edamame

L: 1/2 C homemade chicken salad with cranberries and walnuts over a bed of spinach

s: oh snap! Pickled carrot snacks

D: not sure. Husband is gone on Thursday evenings so I'm on my own and didn't plan ahead. Nothing thawed and not much for groceries in the house. This has always been a night for "treating myself." And having a "me" night, so I need to plan ahead better. I'm thinking I'll swing by the store after the gym and buy something healthy to fix at home instead of carry-out though.

E: plan is two miles on the treadmill and upper body weight machines. Will strengthening muscles now help with recovery later?

W: goal will be 120 oz

And cleaning the house too, I guess. I mean, whatever. ;)

I have trifocals, Daisy... and I still can't get used to them (I've had them over a year), so I just wear readers when I need them and go about my day. I'm lucky though, in that my distance vision is fine. Getting older isn't easy! Hang in there!

Accountability... I did buy a bag of my favorite Sugar Free Russell Stovers dark chocolate caramel turtles yesterday... . I ate one on the way home last night... it's 75 calories, and I feel no guilt whatsoever over it... I do wish though that I could buy these one at a time, because now I will have one every night until they are gone! LOL That's my biggest issues with 'approved' snacks... I need to buy one serving at a time, and then I'll only eat them once in a while... but if I have to buy a bigger package, you can bet it'll be eaten regularly until they are gone. That sucks.

QOTD: Working out. I wish I could get on a plan of doing it regularly AND LIKE IT! Truth be told... while I don't hate it while I'm there, I talk myself out of it much more often then I actually go.

Weight this morning 138.6 (pretty much a maintenance diet, over 1 year out)

B: 3.5 ounces of baby back ribs

L: Either more of the ribs, or 3 ounces of meatballs I made last night

D: Going over to a friend's house so it'll be up in the air

S: I don't have anything with me... if I need something it'll be a rib or those meatballs. I haven't been eating anything at night after dinner lately, not even my latte! (perhaps having the spouse/kids gone has it's upside!)

Good morning everyone! Just got back from having blood work done. I'm afraid of what it will show. I've been having difficulty taking all my meds and vitamins. It's a day long process some I take whole some I cut up and some I crush with applesauce. Often somewhere along the line I'll get sick to my stomach.

I think the accountability thing is great. So far haven't had a problem since my surgery was at the end of April and I'm really not hungry. But...I can see that I'll need to accountable to you guys in the future.... I'm s championship grazer. I used to eat constantly...I mean every second I was awake. I know that urge will come back and it's good to know I can turn here for support.

QOTD: my biggest problem is starting projects and not getting around to finishing them. Examples: my husband died five years ago. I decided to cut up his aloha shirts and make s quilt .... Well I did cut out all the squares and they've been sitting in my closet ever since. I make custom statement necklaces .... I'll start working on them and then leave them until thirty seconds until deadline. I could go on!

B: protein drink with 2 oz of coffee

L: chicken and vegetables

S: babybell cheese and hummus

D: vegetarian meatballs with stewed tomatoes and maybe cauliflower rice.

Have a really great day everybody! Nancy
