More recent blender wins

Truthfully? I don't see much use for any blender after surgery. There's such a short period of time that some of us are on purees -- but other than that short time, a blender is rather contraindicated.
Protein shakes become undrinkable-frothy using a blender (IMHO) -- and smoothies, juices, etc are not satiating and usually chock full of sugar. From 3 to 4 weeks out of surgery, our concentration should be on DENSE PROTEIN for the greatest results. Anything blended is really just being made into a slider.
However, to answer your question, while I have a full-size blender -- I get the most use out of my cheap KitchenAid immersion blender -- keeping in mind that I cook everything for my family.

I bought a Ninja Master Prep Food Processor (you can get it at Amazon for $50). I love it because I put together a protein shake/smoothie together on the days I don't get enough protein in. I do agree that blenders make them too frothy. I mix my protein separately with a bit of water or milk and add it to my shake or smoothie or just pulse it in. Anyway, this particular blender comes with two separate containers a pitcher type and a smaller one that I use most of the time. It works really well and is very easy to clean up. Its also great for chopping. I do use mine a lot.

I bought a cheap little chopper at the Walmart on sale for under 12 dollars for my puree stage and loved it. I used it every day. It easily pureed chicken, beef, just about anything I put in there. My favourite pureed meal was faux chicken wings, lol, made by pureeing chicken breast with some Greek yogurt and hot sauce.
I still use it if I need things chopped; it's so much smaller and easier to clean than any of my blenders.

I use magic bullet or my Vitamix for any cooking - baking. I no longer drink protein shake - but for blending eggs for omelet, grinding coffee or my herbs - seeds - I honestly would not want to be without them. Vitamix was expensive - but I use it at least once a week in my cooking for my and my BF. the magic bullet is great for spices, crushing frozen berries for "ice slushy", or for eggs to make omelet or frittata. But I love cooking - so I love my "kitchen toys". I used them before WLS and use them after.
