FREAKING OUT!! Is this normal?

Normal is a hard word. I don't think there is anything normal in this world.

It is okay to be afraid and worry. You are doing something major to your body. It can be scary. I understand. I almost cancelled my surgery. It was out of fear.

Now I am so glad I did it. I feel so much better.

Our minds can really do a a job on us.

Stay positive.

super, super normal. :)

I was extremely ready and comfortable with the surgery. I still freaked out a few days before. Try to stay as busy as you can, and know that this time next year you will be so very happy you did it. I'm nearing my one year anniversary. :) I had a lot of weight to lose and still have a ways to go, but I am so much happier and healthier than this time last year.

It's totally and completely normal to freak out a little (or a lot), don't worry.

I got through it by promising myself I could quit at any time. I actually woke up from surgery still telling myself that, until I realised; oops, it's done, cant' quit now, lol.

The closer I got to surgery while on optifast, the more "excited" I got. Excitement and anxiety feel pretty much the same, lol; rapid heart beat, etc. So I chose to label the feelings excitement.

Only you can decide if this is the right decision for you. For me, it was totally the right decision, and looking back, the presurgery me had no idea how good life could get, so it really was a leap of faith for me to do this.

Good luck.

Join the club. My surgery date is Wed!!!

I have lost 60 lbs onb my own and have been saying .... why are you goign to do this. You can do this on your own.... Yeah right. How many times have we lost the weight and regained. You are making the right decision.

Look at your profile name ... "Better Life For Me" That says it all!!!

Yes nervs are normal. Reevaluating is normal. This is a big change but look at the purpose and the reason you are on this road. It is for somehting more right? So a little panic now and some challenging 1st few days on the pre-diet and you will be ok.

TIP - If you are on Optifast. Get a blender add Ice, a little decaf instant coffee and you are having Mocha Frapps all day. They are quite lovely.

Congratulations and good luck on your journey.

Come meet me on the loosers bench soon.

I postponed surgery once because I was a) terrified and b) sure I could lose on my own since I had done so well pre-surgery. HA! Two years later I had to start at square one and do the whole pre-surgery program requirements all over again. You've come this far; please don't let those nerves win out. The morning of my surgery, I was breathing deep and chanting "OM". Now 11 weeks later and about 43 pounds down, I am SO grateful I worked through the nerves. Find whatever works to help you through. It will be worth it! Namaste.

Thank you. I am not going to postpone this. I have tried for year to get this weight off and it never left me. I never thought about having WLS until they doctors brought it to my attention do to other health problems that I was having and they just keep coming. I am 35 years old and really can't do anything because of being tried and to much pain. I want this so bad, but the nerves are rough. I know I can do this and will be much happier after.
