What's on your menu today (Monday) RNYers?
Good morning Lovelies! I am alive. That is always a good thing. Still recovering from my tummy tuck and breast lift, but I seem to be on a the upswing and I'm feeling halfway decent right now. I'm almost pain free, and just dealing with some swelling low in my abdoment. It looks like the hematoma that I had has pretty much resloved itself with warm compresses, but I am still doing it to be sure. I'm draining a lot on that side still, and it's dark red, so we'll see what the surgeon says when I go in to see him this week. Other than some crazy swelling, and horrible back pain from having to sleep in the recliner and still walking hunched a lot (I'm trying to stand up straight, but that **** is hard, yo!), I'm doing good.
Saturday I stayed home and rested for most of the day. I did take a short walk around the block with my puppy, since hubby had taken the boys to see Spiderman. Then on Sunday we took the boys and the puppy to this awesome park about 20 minutes from us. A river runs right through the park, and they have a fenced dog park that is fenced on three sides and open to the water. Bugsy had a blast, but we had to cut his time there short since he was the smallest dog there and a gigantic German Shepherd was being really aggressive with him. The dog's owner wasn't really being responsive, and I was kinda pissed that my Bugsy was chased across almost a whole acre then pinned to the ground by this dog 3 times. The rules of the park are that you need to make sure that your dog is not aggressive to other dogs. Don't get me wrong, rough play with my dog doesn't bother me, he's played with large German Shepherd's in the past and wrestled and rolled around, and ended up being covered from head to tail in dog slobber. But this dog was not being playful, he was being aggressive, so we left the area for my Bugsy's safety.
Accountability: We stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home from the park and I ordered a small vanilla cone. I'll have to remember that I should order a kiddie cone if I'm going to do it, because a small is gigantic. I ate half the ice cream, and threw away the cone and the rest of the ice cream.
DD2QOTD: I love eggs. I just had some. I will eat them cooked any way, but my favorite, before and after surgery, is poached or over medium. Unfortunately, I love those two types of eggs with toast, so I don't eat them poached often. My ultimate favorite is a piece of toast with corned beef hash and a poached egg on top. OMG, my mouth is watering. I don't eat corned beef hash anymore either, so I'm sad.

I feel like I might be getting my appetite back after surgery, but I doubt I'll eat all of that salad for lunch. I'll make sure to eat all of the feta and chicken, so at least I'll get my protein in.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
One of the meals I had while I was in Austin was this homemade corned beef hash with eggs and corn tortillas from a restaurant in Austin called Snooze, an AM Eatery... OMG...
I haven't had, nor will I have, corned beef hash again for a LONG time! This was really nice though, with shredded corned beef and onions and peppers mixed into it very fresh and made with quality ingredients ... and I skipped the corn tortillas altogether... I ate it for 3 meals. Delicious!

I miss corned beef hash and eggs! It is usually so greasy, so I'm avoiding it. But boy do I miss it!

Happy Monday...grumble. I feel super run down this morning and thinking it was yesterday's heat. I decided the garden needed weeding and may have stayed out too long in the heat and humidity.
QOTD: I love omelettes, with lots of veggies, ham, sausage, etc. I used to eat them over easy, but not so much now that I don't have toast to dip into the yolk.
B: stopped at Scooters this morning for a skinny hazelnut latte with an extra shot. I probably won't give up caffeine until I absolutely have to, but I've cut back drastically.
S: Greek L&F yogurt
L: deli turkey, lowfat string cheese, pickle spear
S: sugar free pudding cup
D: chicken breast, maybe with a spinach salad. Definitely some yellow squash. My garden spit about 7 of them out at once! This is definitely the most rewarding time for gardening--hunting for your rewards!
Morning RNY'ers! I just experienced a wicked case of RH. My punishment for eating oatmeal this morning. I had boiled eggs too, but I think I waited too long to have the eggs, normally I can ward off this feeling the protein mixed with the carb. Peanut butter crackers to the rescue and I feel normal gain. Of course I bought out the stock of PB crackers, cause I don't want to be caught w/o them again. That walk to the store was touch & go.
Accountability- I did ok yesterday too. My activity was through the roof thanks to running & sky zone, so I gave myself some leeway to enjoy wings @ buffalo wild wings. I ordered a side of mac & cheese too, but didn't care for it so ate maybe 1/2. My carbs came is at 67, so still not a wasted day.
QOTD: Eggs, I prefer scrambled with cheese. Second favorite fried, 3rd boiled. I'm not a huge fan of deviled, but will eat one if offered, I just won;t make them.

You know, last week while DH was still in the hospital he ordered oatmeal and fruit for breakfast... it was the first time he had to have insulin while in the hospital because his blood sugar spiked to over 150 (he's a diabetic, but not on insulin).
I guess that steel cut oats are supposed to be better, but I'm going to talk to him about cutting oatmeal out altogether when he gets home... it just doesn't work for him and his sugar levels.

First...ta da...I took my measurements in March and was so discouraged that I didn't take them again until last week. In March the tape measure wouldn't even go around my hips they were 74" but last week the tape measure actually fit around my hips now 56". Yay!!!!!
I like eggs as long as the white is cooked through... I love a two minute egg, hard-boiled eggs, and omelets the best.
Today I'm going to try to actually take all my meds.
B yogurt and fruit
S protein shake
L egg salad (hard boiled egg and cottage cheese
S hummus and a wedge of babybell
D scrambled eggs and stir fried zuke and carrots
Have a great day! Nancy
Congratulations on the measurements!!! Quite a feat! You should be proud!
