Hi there guys,

Today is day 17 of 21 (4 days left) on Optifast. It has not been too bad thanks to all your advise. I am doing well a bit hungry here and there but not too bad everything consided.

Today was my last day of work as I am taking a couple of vacation days before surgery on Wed. The nerves have set in. Upset tummy, headache, VERY emotional (the comercials are making me tear up), moody, even more hungry than normal. Think I might even have to take something to help me sleep tonigt.

Did you have nerves just before surgery? What did you do to help?

I have gone through all the positives and am not discouraged. It is the opposite....i want Wed to be here NOW! So looking forward to turning the page.

Thanks. Shel

I just got my surgery date of August 28 and I was super excited for about a minute. I have spent the rest of the day nauseous from panic. So, there ya go. I am panicking, too!

Yes, emotions ran VERY high like you say. What helped was to journal my fears and then write down all my hopes and dreams once freed from obesity. The paper was tucked away to read on the first year surgery-versay. What also helped was to remind myself I did everything possible to prepare. Wishing for you to experience the same sense of peace and calm that came over me the morning of WLS. Things should go just fine, you'll see.

Valium helped me, no joke. My doctor prescribed one for me the night before surgery so I could relax to sleep and I took another one the morning of. It helped tremendously.

Good luck to you. This surgery is the best thing that I could of done for myself!!

First, congratulations on your upcoming surgery! It is a big decision but in my opinion, well worth the changes.

I too was a ball of nerves before surgery. I did alot of journaling and stayed as busy as I could getting ready for my recovery time. The time did pass quickly, but I was ready to go before the day. I did lots of cleaning and made pureed food that I put in the freezer for later. I just had to stay busy.

Hang in there and good luck!

Thank you. I am looking forward to this new life.

That is the thing eh keeping busy, and so I have a freezer full of soups, pures, mush, and not to mention all the single meals for my hubby cause he cannot cook. The house is spotless .... i should probally not have booked 2 days off next week. I figues I needed to leave the stress of work behind and focus on me. Too much focus...lol.

I think that journaling might be just what the dr ordered the next fews days.

Thanks again for the insight and well wishes.

Everything you mentioned is completely normal in my opinion. I went through a similar experience and I'm here to tell you it's been worth every second. All the best to you.
