Hardwiring exercise/activity? Ideas?
Here are a few "tricks" I use...
Sleeping in my workout clothes, with my shoes and socks right by the bed. I wake up ready to go, and it's harder to talk myself out of getting up and at least going for a walk.
I work in a city with a bus system that has bike racks. I tell myself that I'll bike to the office then just ride the bus home afterwards. So far I've ridden both ways. (I give myself an hour to get to work even though it's a 30 minute ride, so I don't get too sweaty.)
I have someone drop me off a few miles from home so I have to walk (or jog) all the way there, preventing me for quitting early.
I'm still working on this myself, so I can't tell you when it gets easier, but I started walking the month before my surgery and I've been doing pretty well. 2 months after surgery I started a training program for a 5K. I am literally slower than most walkers - like 17 minute miles - but it does burn a lot of calories so I'm trying to "run" three days a week. My goal this month is to bike to work two days and run after work three days...
