What's on your Saturday menu RNYers?
It's funny, pre op, roast pork was something I found hard to digest, it gave me heartburn often. Post op, it was one of the first meats I could eat 3 oz of. So strange.

Good morning menu peeps! Look at me checking in on a Saturday!!!
Accountability: FAIL! My PLAN was to ride my bike home after work, drink a protein shake, do laundry, then go for a run, then eat dinner. I ended up working till six (which did allow a big thunder storm to blow through), rode home but stopped just before the house to air up tires, then a stop at a bike store to get a bike helmet (close call with a deer woke me up!). The last three blocks home are up a steep hill, and between feeling too exhausted to ride up the hill, and the aroma from the restaurant beside the bike shop I caved in and ate dinner there. Buffalo cauliflower bites and a beer. I drank so little of the beer that the bartender thought I didn't even try it (less than an ounce) but I LOVE beer and wanted to try this one. Then when I did get home (after walking the bike up the steepest parts) I collapsed on the couch. I made myself drink the protein shake, but didn't run, didn't eat meat, went to bed at 9pm....
QOTD:I do like to try making foods healthy, I've enjoyed doing this for years. I like to use truvia sweetener, and lots of good quality dairy with plain whey isolate powder.
3 mo post RNY / 171 lbs/ Weight-loss phase
B- plain Greek yogurt with 1 scope chocolate protein powder

total calories: 800, protein: 118, carbs: 28, sugar: 13, Fat: 29
Exercise: make-up 2mi run, tonight I'm walking to a soccer game (Columbus Crew) which is over 3 mi round trip.
I'm high in calories, I know those who have been successful eat closer to 500/day. I know I can't "eat" my exercise calories but I've felt so freaking exhausted all week that I'm hoping the higher calories with a bit more nutritious food will help. Please keep telling me why I'm wrong, I do care! The exercise is important to me because a primary reason for my WLS was to help me get fit, but this is all moot if I don't get to and maintain at a healthy weight!

You are very early out, so the effects of an ounce of beer here and some carbs there aren't impacting you the way they will when you're 3, 5, or 10+ years out.
You cannot out-exercise a lax diet. The habits you form now are the ones that will stick with you.
I've been around OH for a fair amount of time. The most successful people are the ones who establish good habits in the beginning and stick with them. You have a pretty loose approach, and I don't see it working the way you want it to.

Yes, I'm totally bad about seeing things in black and white. I had taken a lot of solace in the positive reviews my food diaries received from the Nutritionists at the Barbaric Center who also preached a plan that wasn't black and white, but I am learning that there are few nutritionists who actually understand what it takes to be successful.
The scale just gave me another drop, and I'm finally under 170. I feel a little better seeing the number drop right at the first of the month but again, I know those of you who are successful lost far more, far faster than I did.

Hi all!
I haven't posted in a while...but I've missed seeing what everyone was up to. My college daughter is home and will be staying home. She has decided to finish school locally. She joined me in my low-carb eating. Then two weeks ago my husband joined us too. This is great...but boy, my grocery bill has gotten ridiculous. :/ Since they haven't had surgery, they can put away that protein, haha!
Home today, giving the house a good and much needed scrubbing.
Happy Canada day to all of you Canadians!
QOTD- haven't tried that, but post if you find a good one!
Food today-- 10 months out
B- coffee w/milk, protein smoothie with coconut, almond butter, and cocoa powder (yummy but kinda gritty from the coconut, hah!)
L- leftover grilled salmon and veg (carrots, red peppers, snap peas)
D- pizza night for the kids, so steak night for the grown ups. :) with cucumbers and mango
Snacks- cups of hot tea. Probably that's it. I just ate breakfast, lol. So lunch will be late, and I have plenty of steak to fill up on tonight.

Fyi - if they have not have surgery - eating too many proteins not only may slow down there weight loss b but all affect their bodies - not on as good way. Unless they are athletic - athletes ,- more than 75-100 gr oof proteins us way to much and body may turn it into sugars. For them -IMO - more fat, more high fiber veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, quash, cucumbers, etc ) with good quality fats like butter, avocado, olives coconut oil.. Etc should be their volume - not proteins. Specially long term.

Happy Canada Day! It's raining here and I'm hoping it will clear up in time for fireworks, not that I'm planning to go but I want others to enjoy them.
I've had a migraine for several days and gave in and took some Tylenol 3 this morning and am hoping it will help but so far no luck.
I'm 21.5 weeks post op RNY.
Accountability: I reached my calorie/protein goals yesterday after a few days of not getting enough in, a first for me as I"m usually really good about getting in enough calories/protein.
QOTD: I'm still too early out to try modified cheese cake recipes but do plan on experimenting later on for special occasions. When I did the South Beach diet a few years ago, they recommended a yummy dessert made with riccotta cheese mixed with cocoa powder and splenda; it tasted like chocolate cheese cake and was high protein low carb. That would be OK now, even and I may try that next time I get a chocolate craving.
I did do a watermelon "cake" for my birthday, which I think would be a great summer dessert to take out to various gatherings. Just cut a mini watermelon into a cake shape, coat with whipped cream (I used light cool whip), decorate with berries, and you have a refreshing and pretty dessert. I only had a thin slice because of the sugar in watermelon, but it was delish! Everyone else loved it; it was a big hit. You could use a bigger watermelon for more/bigger servings if you have to feed a lot of people.
My menu:
Breakfast: 2 cups decaf with premier protein, 1 slice weigh****chers whole grain bread (not a trigger for me), with 1 tbsp organic peanut butter.
Lunch: Greek yogurt with blueberries.
Supper: BBQ chicken
Snack: Beef jerky, cherry tomatoes.
Totals: 556 calories, 28 g carbs, 22 g fat, 6 g fibre, 62 g protein, 12 g sugar.

QOTD Don't have anything.
B coffee with cream and egg mcmuffin
L tuna, cottage cheese and some chips and cheese
Going to the casino, we will see
Have a good evening
QOTD: I never cared for WLS versions of foods, or the idea of them. Foods can trigger us physically, like sugar can, but they can also trigger us mentally. Fake chocolate cake is still chocolate cake in our brains. And it can just plain torture us. That's how I approach it anyway.
I just dislike fake things. Cauliflower mashed potatoes. Tofurkey. The second Darren on Bewitched. Republican politicians. Inflatable dates.
