Hi twill...first of all I definitely would like to stay in touch. Really write any time you want to...I'll be here. I' m sorry that your family's being so terrible. It's not fair to tease you about the surgery when you're just starting out and having problems. Remember... You're going to feel better and better snd show them just how great determined and smart you are.remember it took alot of courage and strength to get to where you are today. Getting back on your feet can be really heard but you'll do it. One of the things I've learned is to celebrate every positive step I take. Sometimes I can actually look around and say that for this moment I'm OK this is good I'm going to make it. I may even be happy. May only last a nano second but its all good. Hard to do when you're feeling overwhelmed....I write down every last thing that makes me feel happy or stronger. Be patient with yourself. After I fell in the hospital I went to a very dark place but bit by bit I'm alot better. It took s couple of months but now...I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. It will be great not to have to check out chairs to make sure they're big enough and not likely to break out from under you ...yes that happened to me twice! To fit into cars again! The list goes on. Oh yeah my stats: 5'8" tall, consultation wright 345, weight at surgery 305, current weight 252. I'm 67 years old. Of course, I don't feel great all the time. Stay hooked up with oh lots of really good people. Well as you can see I tend to go on and on. Your friend Nancy.

Hi Twill,

I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of it.

I had a bit of a rough time, but nothing like what others have gone through. I had lots of pain post op, crazy pain, and just as it was getting better I stupidly bent over at the waist to pick up something i had dropped, and it was back with a vengeance. Then just when that was getting better, I started on soft foods and had pain about 4-6 hours after eating. My surgeon made me go back to full liquids again, for 2 more weeks, followed by 2 more weeks of purees before I could try soft foods again. Then I too got pneumonia and was bedridden for 2 weeks.

Thankfully, after that, things got better and I'm doing great now (except for a migraine this week).

I got on the scale this morning and discovered I am only 3.2 Lbs away from 100 Lbs lost, and 7.3 Lbs away from Onederland...at 21.5 weeks out, which is amazing to me. I only change my ticker on Wednesdays, but as of today, I am down 96.8 Lbs!

Sending warm thoughts and prayers that you will feel better soon.

So sorry you have to go through this. Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

I had a rough start too. To make a very long story short, 2 days after leaving the hospital from WLS I ended up back in the ED with as the dr. put "a raging UTI that made made my testicles twist and go up into my abdomin. They had to manually pull my testicles down and untwist them. It was the most excruciating pain of my life! They had me on IV antibiotics then oral antibiotics for 3 weeks.

Keep the faith. You will pull through this! Keep us posted regularly.

I am sorry you are going through this. I can relate because I had my surgery June 12 and by the 13th I was in ICU on a ventilator with e-coli and pneumonia and a fever of almost 104 F. One lung was collapsed and the second one was 2/3 full of fluid. 12 days later I finally could breath on my own and came home. 5 days later I was having trouble breathing and had chest pains. Back in an ambulance to the hospital. Now home again and I walked twice outside today. It may have not been that far but it was steps I could not do 2 weeks ago. I finally feel I will get through this. We both need to keep our eyes on the goal. We will get through the tough time and will be so much stronger in the end.
