Getting ready for RNY
To add what Kat wrote - if you start a post with - "I know that question was probably asked before but I don't feel like looking for it...." Then some of us would roll out eyes, and moved on. The more information you put in a header of a question - the more people can try to help you with it. Typical "not so well thought post are "help" or "depressed" or .. Just one word to of headings that some of us just avoid.
Be considerate. Ask for support and offer it.
When you see answer see enough only what is say but who answered it - someone who likes you is just beginning the process, someone a few months post op, long term post op person is maintaining... Etc.
Most nuts are trained to help normal people. Most of us who were MO are not normal. The surgery makes us even less normal IMO. But - regardless of what anyone else says or do - your journey is your own. Very unique for you. It is up to you to find what it's going to work for you.
Most of us long term post op - we do restrict food groups, calories long term. The long term success is hard work for most of us.
Read, go back pages and pages. Ask questions. Listen to your doc and nut - but be critical.

Hi, and welcome!
I had food funerals in a major way, not that I recommend it; its just what I did. I did find it helped me because I literally ate so much I couldn't even stand the thought of eating even one more bite of those foods for quite some time, lol.
Like the others have said, it was all for nothing, as there are great substitutes for every food craving once you're on solid foods again.
My favourite pasta replacement is zucchini in the spiralizer; it comes out looking JUST like spaghetti, and tastes great with any sauce. I've have it with a meatball and a sprinkle of Parmesan, or sometimes add ricotta to up the protein. I've done it with a bit of becel, garlic, and shrimp too, and it was delish. I can't even tell anymore that it's not real spaghetti.
I also love Chinese food and found some bariatric friendly substitute recipes but haven't tried them yet.
Just jump right in and ask away; if people don't want to answer, they don't have to respond :-).

"What you eat in private, you wear in public." --- Kat
I understand the temptation to have what are sometimes called food funerals, but I really believe that if you are committed to the lifestyle that will make the surgery a success that you will take the commitment now. That is just my opinion, but taking the changes seriously makes alot of difference in the long run.
As for asking questions, there are no stupid questions. I would suggest that you use the search feature because many questions come up repeatedly and you can see what people have already posted about different subjects.
Good luck with your preparations!

I had been using MyFitnessPal for almost ten years prior to my surgery date. I had serious food funerals, I just made sure I could fit them into my pre-surgery calorie limit (1300/day). I regret nothing ;-)

"What you eat in private, you wear in public." --- Kat
I started improving my eating habits about six months prior to WLS. It was a hard slog. About two months before surgery, I really cracked down. It didn't occur to me to have any food funerals. Not because I am virtuous, but because I just didn't think of it.
Then, a couple of days before surgery, I thought "Dammit. Why didn't I eat X, Y, and Z?" Disordered eating and emotional eating talking there. D'oh.
I fight badgers with spoons.
