Hi everyone! I was able to do my walk to rite aid and panerra. Stayed for a couple of hours. Way too long was exhausted last night. But...it was so nice to be out and.on my own. Anyway I ran into a friend. I told him I'd lost about 80 pounds...snd...he said: it makes you look older. Nice one. You'll be happy to hear that I didn't kill him on the spot!

When I was a kid we used to go to Prince Edward Island for the summer. My mother's side of the family is from there. It was so great being there no phone no running water... When you walked out the door you were greeted by total silence. All the neighbors were farmers... We used to cut through their fields to get to the bay.usually we were the only people there..we played in the red sand snd on a broken down jetty and had clambakes. My uncle a lobsterman kept his boat there. . He would beep and leave a lovster in our msilbix on his way back in.everyday we would leave the house and not come bac****il supper. We helped bring in the hay (now that I think of it we probably weren't much help). Funny story: We were in a pretty remote area. The house was on a dirt road...much later the gov tried to pave it. All was fine until they reached the last farm before the bay. There they were confronted by my aunt holding s rifle on them saying she wouldn't have any part of this paving thing...they didn't argue and to this day the the road isn't paved from that point on. Well I'm going on and on.

My menu: B protein drink L soup with 8 grams protein S string cheese maybe some hummus D scrambled eggs ,(2?) Sausage

Going back to panerra this afternoon. Trying to build up endurance

No more outpatient nurse, PT or OT. I'm on my own! At last! Have the best day ever nance

Happy tuesday. I'm happy to say that even though my stress remains, I was able to reign in the stress eating a bit. I was nowhere near perfect, but at least my night didn't end with carrot cake. I'll take a handful of almonds as I was leaving the Trader Joes after the gym. I'm counting it as a victory. Food today is going to be off, even though I planned everything, I left some of it at home, so I'm going to have to wing it.

DQOTD: We had a pool growing up so there was always that, but summer vacation in So. Cal. means day trips to San Diego, the beaches around here and DISNEYLAND! I wish I was a kid again, or at least that I got a summer vacation. Given what I do for a living and the fact that my life is ruled by the billable hour, I don't really take vacation. We don't get a set vacation at my firm . . . take as much as you want as long as you meet your billable goal. What that means is that for every day out of the office, I have to figure out a way to make up the time away, be it working late during the week, or working weekends. I'd rather not. The last real vacation I took (other than to be away for surgeries) was 3 weeks in 2008. I went to Israel.

My plan:

B: 4 oz curried chicken salad

L: I have a piece of sirloin steak with me, but I forgot I'm having tri tip for dinner, so I may mix it up with the smoked turkey breast I also have with me, but that leads to a pre-gym dilemma. . . . hmmmmm

D: Tri -Tip, spinach salad

S: skinny latte, if I eat the smoked turkey for lunch, then more chicken salad before the gym since I forgot my yogurt at home, almonds after the gym

Totals: Cal.: 886; Protein: 94g; Fat: 39g; carbs:51g (not thrilled with those numbers, but I can only work with what I've got)

Wow - no real vacations! Anybody I know who has that "unlimited" vacation clause never takes one! I think my company actually requires that at least 2 weeks be taken (I could be wrong).

DH was a lawyer and had his own small town practice prior to retirement. I had to force him to take one week a year and he'd still be on the phone a lot. The only uninterrupted vacation we took was 2 weeks in Italy to celebrate our 30th anniversary. But he has been retired now since 2014.

That's because it's not really unlimited! I'm not willing to work weekends for months in order to take a week off!

Good day Daisy and Menu friends!!!

Daisy, have you been out hiking or otherwise in grassland this spring? I've had Lymes TWICE and the horrible headache is my primary symptom. I had a rash one of the times, the other I never even saw the tick or bite mark (the ticks that carry lymes are TINY). The treatment is a seven day antibiotic pack so it's not too bad. I'm not a fan of antibiotics but I will take them proactively if I have a deer tick bite.

Accountability: I was hanging in limbo last night waiting for a friend to call back about dinner - so when plans finally fell through I headed out on my walk/run and got in about 4 miles. I stopped at a grocery store on the way back to the house and picked up some of those meat wrapped cheese sticks, frozen shrimp and watermelon chunks. I had one cheese stick for "dinner" then drank a protein shake before bed. No significant change in calories from my planed menu.

QOTD: My parents (teachers) have a cottage in a little gated community on Lake Erie. They purchased it for $2500 in 1969 and Dad hired out as a handyman all summer to pay for the annual gate fee. The community (Lakeside on Lake Erie) is like a small town from the 1950s. Kids run free all day, there's swimming off of a big dock, with life guards on duty, putt-putt golf, shuffleboard, fishing, tennis, most of it is "free" (gate charge to get in). Summer meant free-ranging all day! My sisters and I would ride our bikes down to the dock with Mom at 9am for swimming lessons (cold dark lake in the early summer- YUCK) then she would drop us off at the craft center. We would show back up at the cottage for lunch (maybe, maybe go to a friends house, no phones, no checking in) and usually show up for dinner at six (dinner was basic and meatless unless we caught fish that day due mostly to budgeting), then there was an evening program at 7:30 that consisted of things like the Alumni Band from Ohio State, or a musical put on by a Toledo group, or magicians etc... We had to rinse off in the shower to get the lake, sand, dirt, sweat etc off us before bedtime but that was about the only rule. I loved fishing off the dock, and I would sell bait for pocket money, then when I was about ten I also made a little money walking dogs, and as a teenager babysitting. When I was 16 I started a horse and carriage business at Lakeside and did that until college. When we were in high school we could take our parents 1950s wood boat out on the lake and go water skiing, fishing, visiting islands... We always knew that they loved the boat more than us so we were very careful for the boat's sake ;-)

Exercise: Rode bike to work (7 miles) probably going to ride it home, but I might take the bus... It's the first time I've ridden a bike more than a mile in about 5 years so I was really feeling it! Otherwise it's a rest day. I did sneak in some running yesterday, about 2 miles as part of a 4 mile walk. I was playing Pokemon Go so I was dropping from a jog to a walk in order to catch Pokemon. Yeah, I fail at adulting!

my parents had some friends who had a summer cottage at Lakeside, too - we used to go there to visit a couple of times every summer. It was really fun!!

My sisters have all taken their kids up to the cottage for much of the summer and let them run feral just like we did! I took my grandkids (benefit of marrying an older man, instant grandkids!) to the cottage for a week every summer and we banned all electronics. It was amazing to see how well they thrived! I loved watching their expression when I gave them a dollar each for doing chores around the cottage and then sent them down to the candy store ALL ALONE! The twins were six, their sister was eight, and they were thrilled yet terrified LOL! I need to get up there this weekend but finances and other issues may get in the way :( The gate fees are now almost $30/day!!!
