I didn't think you were not on board. I was just was saying what had happened to me.

Try different temps of liquids if that is a problem. For me if I am having a bad pouch day. I try to just drink liquids.

You can do this.

7 weeks post op and I have experienced the same. I cleaned out the fridge yesterday and the reality of how much stuff that I used to like I don't anymore hit me! I no longer like yougurt, sf popsicles, sf jello, chocolate protein shakes, protein bars, etc. Maybe I had too much of them pre surgery! As time goes on in my journey I'm sure I will be adding to the list. I love Fritos and one of my co-workers had a bag at work and was passing them around - I declined but jokingly said "Just let me smell them" and I almost puked right there!

You are the first Florida person that I have seen on here. Where are you located in Florida?

I can't tell you how much sugar makes my stomach turn. It is horrible. The funny thing is, I was never much of an egg eater and now I like them. I guess that is a start (in the right direction too). I am living in Palm Bay. Not too far from you.

Are you a New Fit patient of Dr. Allison or Dr. Tieu? I had a sliver of apple pie - just the very tip of a piece and my stomach let me know I should not have eaten it! I don't think I dumped my stomach just hurt and it took a while to go away. I can resist sweets - its the bread, pasta and potatoes that are tough!

No I am a patient of Dr. Domkowski in Sebastian. Just south of me. I find if I eat soup to fast it lets me know who is boss.

I had steak for the first time on Saturday. It was a nice tender grilled filet mignon. But of course I gulped the first bit down. It was too big and I didn't chew it well enough. You probably know what happened after that! On Sunday I ate the rest and took small bites, chewed well and put some A-1 on it and it went down fine. I love steak so I was happy that it worked out!

I have no idea what causes it, but just to warn you, the weirdness changes all the time, or at least, it does for me. Take plain Greek or Skyr yogurt. First, I loved it, when I was first allowed it. So creamy, so NON sweet, so good! Yum. Then a week later I hated it. Then I loved it again. Then I hated it and couldn't even look at a container in the store without a feeling of revulsion. Now, suddenly this week, I craved it, went out and bought it,and love it again. Especially with 2 or 3 strawberries chopped up and added to it. Yum. I'm having it right now, lol.

Cottage cheese, which I loved pre op, disgusted me post op, at first. Then I suddenly loved it again. Then I ate some and had to spit it out because it turned my stomach.

I also get a horrible taste in my mouth that comes and goes. It started right after I woke up from surgery and lasted a long time. Then it suddenly went away. Now it's back. I brush my teeth a zillion times a day trying to get rid of the taste. I notice it's much worse after my chewable multivitamins and think it might be the iron content in the vitamins.

I loved decaff coffee pre op and couldn't stand the sight or smell of it post op. It's only in the past few weeks that I've enjoyed it again.

Most days I have very little appetite and eat just because I have to, but some days, usually on the days where I burn 1000 or more calories on my bike or at swimming, I have "hungry" days. It's not like the old hunger, but more a feeling that I need to eat more protein, so I do. Not a lot more, just a bit more. These "hungry" days are usually followed by restriction days where my pouch doesn't want anything.

Yesterday, out of the blue, I craved a banana, but didn't have one as they are so high in sugar and carbs.

It is funny you mentioned Coffee. I loved coffee and drank a thermos a day! Then after surgery I can take it or leave it. (Very happy I had no withdrawal symptoms either!) I feel the same way - just eating to follow the plan but not enjoying it. Maybe that is the head hunger as we used food for celebrations and fun. Now we do this but I can't enjoy as much. Who knows I am a newbie at 3 months. I am sure I will find my footing.

Enjoy it while it lasts. As time goes by, things will normalize and you will likely find a lot of different things that you will like. Just keep getting your protein, fluids and vitamins like it is your job and you will be fine.
