Hi everyone. I had roux en y in Sept of 2013. I have had no complications until this year. I started having nutrient deficiencies at the beginning of this year. That being said I woke up on June 5 with nausea and a feeling of just not being right. The next day I was so dizzy the room was spinning and the nausea had not gone away and was followed by vomiting. I went to the ER. Ct without contrast confirmed nothing and I was sent home. 2 days later I went to a different ER in a big city an hour away and they did a ct with contrast. Could not find the reason for my constant nausea. Determined it could be from vertigo. Mind you I have never had nausea with vertigo ever and the nausea does not go away. I saw a GI and he did an EGD this past Friday. Said everything looks great, no ulcer, no reason for nausea. Now this Friday I have to do a barium swallow study to see if symptoms are caused by intestines. Has anyone been through this? What was your outcome? I am truly scared. Doctors seem to keep shrugging me off and I feel frustrated. My surgeon is in another state and I am establishing with one in July. My liver enzymes are up and down. Help!!! I cannot eat anything without the nausea getting worse or actually getting sick. Please tell me its not going to be like this for the rest of my life. I am incredibly weak and have an overall feeling that something is wrong. Any advice? Thank you all.

I never heard of this happening to anyone, but hope they find the cause and give you the right treatment soon

I feel your pain. I too am getting Nausea as well. I am not having vertigo though. I am seeing a Gastroenterologist as well. We did a EGD this past Thursday and just as you, nothing spectacular there too report so he is setting me up for an ultrasound this week. I really wished he did find an ulcer so I at least had a reason. Please let us know whats going on. I do kinda understand how are you feeling. The nausea sucks, the meds they give you suck even more cause all you want to do is sleep with them so you are stuck on taking them and sleeping or dealing with the nausea.

I am sorry you are going through this as well. I am in the same boat. I wish the test had revealed something. I am worried because I know this is not normal. At least with a diagnosis you know an outcome. The doctors make it seem like I am crazy. I know what I am going through is not normal. Please keep me posted with your findings as well.

are you getting 64+ ounces of liquid a day, every day? Dehydration causes nausea.

Your vertigo might have something to do with your nausea. As everyone has said try to get to the bottom of it with the doctor's help. I had extreme vertigo...I fell and hit my head while in the hospital for my rny. Got 3 cat scans an MRI and visits with a neurologist and an ENT and nothing looked amiss. But I was still extremely dizzy. I went to rehab after my surgery and my fall (5 staples in my head). The PT tried something called the eply maneuver... Which is s totally horrible experience (they enhance your vertigo) but IF it works no more vertigo. Mention it to your doctor. Call a PT to get a description of how it works....pros and cons etc. I had the maneuver once and all my vertigo was gone in a couple of hours. Hope you feel better soon. The feeling of being passed around by doctors is the worst! Nance

Thank you. I will look into it. Even when my vertigo symptoms are not present I am suffering with nausea. At this point I will try anything to feel better. I am glad to hear that you do not have vertigo symptoms any longer. that is great news.
