Is SF Sprite or SF Ginger Ale ever okay?

I agree with Sandra and Grimm. One addition...Peppermint tea is also a good choice. Supposed to help with nausea. You could brew it strong and drink it as iced tea. Nance

Should have gone with peppermint. I got a lemon and ginger that's supposed to help with an upset stomach and was not a big fan of the flavor. Next time!

I exist on Diet Mountain Dew. Without it, I would kill people and pets. But that is six years out. This early, the fizz will probably be more uncomfortable than you would prefer... take a bottle, shake to let out the fizz, and sip a bit if you think it will help, but don't be surprised if it doesn't... most "ginger" ale on the market these days has almost no real ginger in it.

I'm almost 8 months out from VSG, and I just had my first soda last week. One drink and I burped like I'd chugged the whole bottle! It didn't hurt, but I didn't actually enjoy the fizz anymore. I just shook all the fizz out of it, and had it flat. It was great then!

I was not allowed carbonated beverages OR straws... it creates air in pouch and can lead to discomfort.

Sorry you are under the weather.

Try crushing some ginger and adding ho****er. It might help. Hope this passes quickly.

I am almost 4 years out from surgery. Drinking diet soda was one of my major addictions. As a few others. But I am not going to post about that today.

Soda bothers my stomach. Sometimes I can drink it other times I can't. It hurts.

With myself drinking diet soda brought back a few bad habits thinking I can eat something since what I had to drink was calorie free.

Try different temps of water. I can't drink things that are ice cold.

I would get some teas to drink while you are still sick.

After going to a bariatric conference a year ago my surgeon changed his stance on soda, sugar-free of course. He now doesn't say never but he says wait at least six months.

In reality it's not going to damage anything but even at almost 3 years hour out, it doesn't really agree with me anytime I've tried it.

Ginger does help with nausea, so if Doc says it's OK I will definitely let it go pretty flat first.

My trick for nausea since surgery because I had a lot of it..... was honestly to suck on a peppermint TicTac. The white ones. I still carry them with me although I rarely use them anymore. They less than 2 cal, can you get that minty flavor that just takes the edge off of things

I like ginger tea, made from real ginger root. I wash a piece and use a carrot peeler to slice it up thinly, then bring it to a boil, lower the heat, and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes. Pre surgery I added honey, but now I add a bit of splenda or stevia to sweeten it.

I love the taste and find it helps with any sort of stomach upset. Some people add lemon or cinnamon, but I like it best plain.

I hope you'll feel better soon.

My mother always gave us FLAT ginger ale to settle our stomachs and I've continued this practice. It's actually the ginger that works on the nausea. Gravol also makes a ginger based anti nausea pill which does not make you drowsy.
