Survived my own pampered chef party and created a yummy liquid diet recipe!
I insanely scheduled a Pampered Chef party at my house for today...just a week and a half post-op. Because clearly, I'm a genius. (Ok...reality is they are having a good special this month that I wanted to use to get their pots and pans, which I love...and this was the only date I could make work.)
ANYWAY...I got up, had a protein shake, made some deviled eggs for guests (which looked awesome and I tried a new recipe and so badly wanted to taste!)...didn't eat a thing. My demonstrator showed up for the party and we prepped things for the "cooking stations"...and then my friends came and we cooked chicken with Jamaican Jerk seasoning which became a part of a delicious looking salad with bacon, peppers, black beans, onions, pineapple and what looked to be a delightful dressing....and survived that challenge with nary a bite.
Then prepped strawberries and cream....still no bites (though technically, I would argue the whipped cream would have been allowed). I did pull out my second shake by this time, though....and I had been drinking my water all throughout.
I seriously can't believe I got through all this with no bites!
BUT...after everybody left, I was really jonesing for "something savory" after fighting those temptations all day. And frankly, I was pretty tired of the soup options I've been having all week...so I threw a little something together that was DELICIOUS and I highly recommend as a lovely change of pace (I'm definitely having this again tomorrow!)
I opened a single serve can of V-8 and warmed it on the stove, adding a little cumin, onion powder, chili powder and a couple of shakes of Cholula hot sauce. I then turned the burner off and in a separate bowl mixed 1/3 scoop of Unjury chicken protein powder with water. Because of temp restrictions I couldn't add it directly to my soup so I added a couple of ice cubes to the soup base to cool it down to
I think your message got cut off at the end, but your recipe sounds great, and kudos for surviving all of those temptations! You're so early out and doing great!
Did you get any cool items for hosting the party?

Oh go**** did get cut off! I wonder if I hit a word limit.
The party is still open so I haven't heard what my total rewards are yet. I get 60% off a single item for hosting in June and I want to get the Executive cookware. I've had it before and loved it. I hate the pots and pans I have right now.
I'm a kitchen gadget junkee....I can admit that. :)
I'm a kitchen gadget junkie too! I currently want an ice cream maker so I can turn protein shakes into ice cream, and a dehydrator so I can make beef jerky...not sure which to get lol.

Dehydrators are awesome! I make jerky once a week, my husband and I both eat a ton of it.
Check your local Goodwill, I usually spot them there for under twenty bucks and in good shape!

Really? Thanks for the tip; I'd love to find an affordable one. I am totally addicted to jerky. Glad to know I'm not alone, lol.

Curious about using the icecream maker to make frozen protein drinks. I must say, I tried freezing a premier protein drink once...and then drinking it as it defrosted (I do this with bottled water if I'm out in the heat). It was NOT GOOD. I ditched the shake. But maybe it just doesn't reanimate well...maybe it would have been fine if kept in the frozen state.

If you use the "greater than" or "less than" symbols, OH will cut your post off. Some sort of bug I think.

That was it! I used one of those symbols...that sentence that is cut off was in reference to cooling my soup down to LESS THAN 140 degrees before adding the Unjury protein powder. Thanks for the headsup!
