Gaining weight on Opti-fast!?!?

So I am following my opti-fast to the T and I'm gaining weight!

Let me explain. I lost 8lbs my first week on it and now on my second week the scale keeps climbing back up and up. I've literally gained almost 6 of those lbs back!?!?

Im not sure if I should mention this to the surgeon or call my centre and ask. I have zero energy so where I was on my treadmill for 20 minutes a day before and incorporating cardio on top I' have not been able to do anything. I literally just want to sleep it's horrible.

I have also had extreme diarrhea since starting opti-fast and a tender rib area my gallbladder area =(

It can't hurt to call and ask your centre/surgeon if this is typical....especially with the tenderness in your gallbladder area. I'm on the liver-shrinking portion of my diet, and this morning the numbers on the scale went up instead of down, which is frustrating but I figure it's related to the weightlifting I've been doing....or aliens.

I hope you feel better soon!

You may be allergic to something in optifast, or simply lactose intolerant.

The GB area pain may indicate stones or other issues.

Allergic reaction to something in the drinks can cause inflammation - inflammation would cause water retention=weight gain.

Call the doc.

That's what I'm also thinking. I've always had a allergy to milk so my guess is the drink it just really irritating my stomach. I sure hope nothing else. I did have a gallbladder attack once this pain is nothing like that extreme but it does remind me of a quick pinch (hard to explain) just not full on attack like before just a quick jab and gone then it will occur again a little while later. Also tender.

Are you taking any vitamins? Usually, when we experience a large loss quickly, most of it is water weight. That is likely what has come back on, and it will fluctuate, especially if you still have menses and deal with hormone fluctuations. You should call your center and talk to someone there. They can provide some education and details and reassure you. They may want you on a vitamin regimen as well, I would think.
Especially considering the diarrhea and tenderness in the rib area, call your center.

I'm taking 3000 D3 and my B12 daily. Both are because of deficiencies.

I just wrote my surgeon I'm going to see what he has to say and go from there. Thank you.
