One week post op.

Just left my one week post of Dr visit. I saw the NO for removal of drain tube. I've been on liquid diet since surgery. I asked could I now go to pureed diet. She said 1 week soft then pureed. I'm confused. I didn't think there was anything thinner than pureed other than liquid.

To my understanding, pureed foods may have small grainy particles that could lodge in the suture line of your new pouch. According to the list I was given, soft foods include Greek yogurt or other low-sugar yogurts with no fruit chunks, cottage cheese, soft scrambled egg, refried beans, ricotta cheese, sugar-free pudding, thin cream of wheat or rice, thin mashed potatoes, pureed oatmeal, and pureed cream soups. You should probably ask your Dr./dietician for a list of accepted foods for this phase.

Pureed is thicker like baby food.

You didn't get the drain removed? Sorry if that's true.

I had the drain AND my belly button was leaking like a sieve.

Puréed is supposed to be before soft foods no?

I ate a lot of puréed black bean soup.

Hopefully you get your drain removed sooner than later. I was lucky and it was removed while I was still in the hospital.

I don't remember what my book said about pureed versus soft, but I was on all liquids for 2 weeks, so maybe we skipped that part in my program?

Just don't fall for the 'mashed potatoes', 'farina', or any other starchy thing!

I'm a week and a day post op.i didn't have a drain tube . I did clear liquids day 1,2,3,4 . day 5 I started full liquids, protein shakes, creamy soup, Farina, oatmeal, and today day 8-28 I'm on puréed food , eggs, tuna fish , mash potatoes , sweet potatoes, cottage cheese , cooked veggies or fruit . Nutritionist told me try something new each day . today for dinner I had tunafish in water i put it in my magic bullet to purée it with the water it came in, in the can and added Mayo to it . . Anything you purée you need to add a bit of liquid so it thins it out a bit . If you're going to eat anything soft I would still purée it .
