Hi WhiteDove, your words are encouraging and important. Support groups are hard to find in our area and am glad our local group is welcoming to anyone; we consist of in-state, out-state, and fly-to-Mexico WLSers. Our volunteer-led group rules are heavily posted at each meeting stating to verify any information shared with medical professionals; varying opinions at group and on this website keeps me on my toes and has me either rethinking or solidifying medical guidance. Your words today should make good sense for many. Thanks.

Thank you for your words of wisdom! I'm 5'3" where the high normal end of bmi for me would be 141. I'm only a couple pounds away from hitting that so your timing on this is great. I plan on continuous loss for as long as possible during this phase so I too can have a cushion if needed.

I have a question on the other end of the spectrum that some what goes along with your post.... when you say the first 2 years they continue to lose ... that kinda gives me a little relief. I'm as everyone knows a revision from a 6.5 year band and I just hit my 1 year out to rny in may... I'm a super slow loser and still have 17 lbs to get to goal... I've been in a panick thinking I have hit my 1 year mark and now I'm not malabsorbing anymore .... is this the case or do I still have that on my side ? I've dropped my carbs down to 25 or less trying to get there .... dropped my peanut and peanut butter snacks and even let go of my yogurt to get the carbs down ... just curious about the time frame when the malabsorption stops . I am 10 lbs away from my lowest lap band weight of 142 but would love to see 135 to give me a normal bmi I'm also 5'2

I am sure I malabsorbed until month 30. I never had any regain until then. Then I started gaining a pound a week and went back to Weigh****chers when it go to 14 pounds. That regain was extremely difficult to lose again.

I lost my last 50 lbs my second year, but it was way tougher than my first year. But it's do-able. I don't really know how long malabsorption lasts - but if my weight starts creeping up, I'll lower my calories...
