1st "real" weight gain
Greetings all!
So...I've had my first real weight gain since surgery...and it is very scary!
I had surgery on 8/23/16. I have consistently lost weight weekly (I weigh every day and use my average for the week as my weight, so I have ups and downs throughout the week, but have always had a lower average weight from the previous week).
As a family, we have had some significant stressors. My younger daughter was admitted to the hospital for several days, my older daughter graduated from high school and we had her graduation parties this past weekend.
While my daughter was in the hospital, I was able to make good food choices and stuck with them. However, this past weekend of graduation parties, I had a couple of handful of potato chips, grazed on deviled eggs AND PASTA SALAD...oh, the pasta salad. GRRR.
So, I am up almost a pound this week for my average weight and weigh 2.2 lbs more this Sunday than the previous Sunday.
I've been back on track since yesterday, logging, weighing, making good choices. But I have to say, it is so scary how quickly stress and grazing/poor choices can add up to additional pounds!!
Just wanted to share and ask for words of encouragement. I'm sure others have had similar experiences.
Thanks for listening...

Thanks for sharing your experience. Your story illustrates (to me) the importance of weighing in frequently. Personally, ANY pasta will put 5 pounds on me, and it usually takes a week to get it off. When I am tempted to stick it in my mouth (gluten free even, but it is the big hit of refined carbs that does it), I visualize stepping on the scale tomorrow, seeing the number increased 5 pounds from the day before, and the week of sacrifice to get back down.
I like your strategy of taking a weekly average. That is sort of what I've been doing without really knowing it. As long as the number is going down or maintaining, I am content.
As others point out, you jumped right back on track, and that is great. I do hope the stress lets up. Take care.
The impressive part is that you are ON THIS and you are not allowing yourself to rationalize it away! You are doing GREAT! It will come back off because you are not going to let it stick around :)

First, don't ever put deviled eggs into the same category as pasta!
Those deviled eggs are just fine (provided they're made without sugar added like my ex MIL used to do LOL)...
Pasta is the devil's work... gluten free or not.
Glad you jumped back on the wagon, and I understand how sometimes it can happen... but keep trying much harder not to waste this coveted Honeymoon phase... it will pass faster than you realize!
You can do this! Admitting it is the first step to helping you back up and into the saddle! Keep it up!!

I'm not yet at "goal" if that is the question? I'm 20lbs from my original goal - the one I established with the PA before I had surgery. However, that does not put me at a normal BMI, so I'd like to try to lose an additional 10-20 lbs after that, so I still have a way to go.
I consider my self a slow, steady loser. Slower than most I think. The first 4 months I lost an average of 13 lbs a month, this past 5 months I've lost an average of 8 lbs per month. So, no huge loses, but very steady. I anticipate this month might be a bit less with this gain, but hopefully everything will get back on track. I likely won't make goal in 12 months, but feel confident that I can get there in 18 months.
