What's on your menu today (Monday) RNYers?
It'll be hot here, too, today - UGH! Not a fan! The support group for our clinic is tonight. I almost never go because I almost always have a scheduling conflict, but I don't tonight, so i may wander over there.
QOTD: we get our basic groceries at the same store, but I often buy produce elsewhere (farmers' markets or a store that specializes in cheese & produce - their stuff is more expensive but higher quality). I buy meat from butcher shops - I just think it's better. I also shop at Trader Joe's for certain specialty items. I always shop from a list when I'm at the regular grocery store - otherwise I invariably forget something! Coupons - i used to be a ferocious couponer, but not anymore. If something happens to catch my eye and it's something we'd buy *anyway*, then I'll use it, but otherwise, I don't go out of my way to clip coupons. I buy a lot of generics when it comes to basic groceries (a bag of sugar is a bag of sugar...), so most of them don't really apply to us.
2 years out (maintenance):
B: homemade Greek yogurt, raspberries
S: coffee with half & half, SF mango lassi protein/fiber shake
L: 1 C cottage cheese, 6 strawberries
D: some kind of sandwich on a Flat Out Fold-It wrap. Either a turkey burger or corned beef with the fixin's - lettuce, tomato, tzatziki sauce (and mustard if its corned beef)
probably another yogurt this evening
Hey gang! Post surgery weekend one down. I think I did well, rested binged watched Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix. My biggest challenge was the medication was making me so nauseous I really haven't been able to eat solid food yet. So trying to keep my protein and calories up. Did make protein pudding, which is not my favorite, but it goes down easy. Made some more this morning. Back to pre-surgery weight of 164 so IV stuff is out of me. I have taken a couple walks around the block for like 5-10 minutes with my neighbors, and a Walkingstick. It's good to get out in the sunshine. So hope to do that again today. It helps my mental frame of mind.
QOTD: I kind of rotate between which stores I shop at. I shop a lot at target because it's right around the corner from my house. I do go to Trader Joe's, and Costco, when I have specific things I want to get there or have run out of. But then once a while I have to go to the regular grocery store because there's certain things you just can't get out any of them. I generally have A list of what I'm looking for or why am there
food? So far ate a half a cup of cottage cheese to take meds, and drink my usual morning latte. Since what I can eat is still up in the air, I do have chicken soup, I have my protein pudding, I have some chicken that I may try shredding and putting a little bit of gravy on. Feel like I'm back in the beginning when everything is got to be moist and chopped and all those good things. I'm doing my fitness pal to make sure I am getting enough in. May have a shake or two thrown in there as well
ex: getting up and down off the couch, LOL I'm already exhausted just from the shower, meds, coffee, and making protein pudding. Possibly a sit outside and possibly a walk
This recovery may be more of a mental challenge than any of my others, I try not to think too hard about the fact that this braces my friend for the next 4 to 6 weeks. Oy. I will try not to whine. The highlight of courses the doctor said it went excellent, and it had to be done, both words I needed to hear.
Thanks friends for indulging my semi drug-induced diatribe and thank God for talk to text

Just keep reminding yourself that this pain is temporary and when you're healed the daily pain you had before will be gone. As a person with long time RA pain,I know how draining pain in general and especially chronic pain is. Praying for a speedy recovery and patience for you as you heal. Take care of yourself.
Feel better soon!

Hi everyone! My weekend was a pretty easy one overall. I saw my nutritionist- nothing earth shattering to report there. My son's did awesome at his recital. Sunday was a lot of doing nothing :-)
QOTD: I don't use the same store every week, but I have a network of 4 that I go to. Like you I prefer getting my produce/lunch meat at certain markets. I usually go Saturdays for my 'big' shopping trip, but do find myself in the markets at least 2 other times during the week for things I either forgot or wanted to wait to buy until I was ready to cook it. (IE- I'm making pulled pork sandwiches tomorrow, I won't buy the rolls until tonight or tomorrow.) I use a list, but stray from it. I like using the app flipp.com to see what's on sale where-- that's how I figure where I'll start off shopping. Unless it's at BJ's, I use coupons randomly. I end up buying more than I need to use the coupon. I am getting more into the digital coupons though.

M4: left over night, I'll eat whatever protein the rest of the family doesn't claim-- or shrimp.
