I'm one month out post op, and while I've been a trying to stay positive I've been a little bummed about my "slow" loss. But today I checked my scale and I've officially hit 249 lbs! That means I've reached the major milestone of a 50 pound loss from my highest weight!

As for my NSV. I met up with a friend yesterday that I hadn't seen in several months. The first thing she said was that I was looking good and asked if I'd lost weight.

its been hard bc I'm not seeing much change and I'm still wearing the same size- so I feel at times like a bit of a failure.

but both of these things really cheered me up!

Congratulations; that's a great milestone, and NSV.

Congrats on the milestone and the compliment. Get used to them.

Our "slow" weight loss is generally super fast by normal standards. Slow and steady is really the most effective way to lose weight anyway.

Large sized clothes are tricky because most are roomy and stretchy so it takes a long time before your size may go down. I think it was about 55 pounds for me before I saw a size change. Once you get to smaller sizes fewer pounds will be a size change. Trust me--you will get there soon.

This was exactly my experience as well!! You've done great so far, and soon you will be going down in sizes faster than you can keep up with! Get to know your local thrift shops... Your going to need them!

WOOHOO

I know, early on, I could wear the same clothes for at least 50-75 pounds...but...the clothes weren't exactly "form flattering", to begin with...they just became roomier...and so much LONGER

Now, I can really tell the difference, in my clothes, at FIVE pounds, lost or gained...so very, very surreal

You are NOT NOT NOT a failure !!!! Please keep ONE set of pre op size clothing, so you can always have them, to try on, when have having STINKIN' THINKIN', and see how very far you have come !

You're so right! Logically I know that I'm not a failure (shoot it's only been a month). But years of negative self talk is hard to stop! But with the help of all you wonderful people, my family, and a great counselor I will get there

I was a "slow" loser, and I've lost over 230 lbs. As I like to say, your commitment to your program will have a much greater impact on your success than your rate of weight loss.

Oh dear, plz don't feel like a failure!! Not a good head space to be in. 50lbs is fantastic. I think as pple who have been overweight for so long we are used to being hard on ourselves. Be proud, stand proud. Your on way. Yaaa
