What's on your menu today (Wednesday) RNYers?
Happy Hump Day!
QOTD: So I have a sort of funny story. Our current house on Cape Cod was our weekend/summer house before we moved there full-time. I drove down one Friday night after work and the key wouldn't work in the lock (it had been sticky). So I had to go in through the basement (same key). I called the alarm company to tell them to ignore the alarm because I knew I couldn't get to the pad on time. So I get in the basement and find out that DH had locked the door at the top of the basement stairs before he left the prior week (we NEVER lock it). So I can't get into the main house and the alarm is wailing. The alarm company can't turn it off remotely but said it would eventually time out. So I called DH who was on his way (with the dog) and he thought he had the key. He arrived and NO key. So we leave the dog in the basement (finished basement) and went out to dinner and the food store (to get dog food). Because we had to sleep in the basement that night and get a locksmith the next day. The locksmith couldn't come until noon and it took her about an hour to break through the old lock!

Posted in AMAW, but here to answer DQOTD: Yes, I've been locked out. I've had to break in more than once by going in my side gate and hoping that I left the french doors unlocked. The last time it happened was after the Tinker Bell 1/2 marathon last year. Just as I was trying to get in the side gate (which is difficult for me because there's a lock on the INSIDE) a police cruiser drove by and they stopped and made me prove that I lived there. Luckily I had ID with me because it could have been a real issue . . . no key and no proof of residency. When I was younger, I was the one who had to climb through our doggy door on more than one occasion. Apparently locking yourself out is genetic.
Good morning menu friends!
Yes, I've left the AMAW and CAMAW challenge. After some heart felt introspection I realized that my less than militant adherence to the plan was causing those who were moving heaven and earth to adhere, to feel like I wasn't taking the challenge seriously enough. I know I feel frustrated when something that is vitally important to me is only given passing interest by others so I get it. Plus there's no rule that says I can't do it on my own :)
QOTD- Yes, many times! I'm like you Daisy! I grew up in a place where we never locked the door, and when it was locked, it was with a combination lock and pretty much everyone in our neighborhood knew the combination :) I generally have had a large dog at home, so my house is only locked at night, or when we are leaving for a full day. To get in to the farm house, one simply needs to climb over the fence into the goat pasture, go into the back of our garage, then into the house. So aside from your clothes torn on the fence, then getting covered in muddy little goat prints, it's pretty easy! Once inside the house you'll be greeted by Miley, who isn't too fond of strangers but if she knows you, you're gold!

Uhhh...what are the acronyms? I was away a few days.
Today was a good day. I got a lot done at work then came home and cooked for the fam. I like cooking my family dinner. Makes me feel connected an stuff. Granted, I cooked stuff for them that I'm not eating. Our household is on like 57 different eating plans. My teenage girls are...well...teenagers...and thus are sorta particular in their likes. My boyfriend has stage 4 kidney disease and right now his phosphorous and his calcium levels are both super high (so no cheese, no milk, no processed anything)...and then there's me.
For my part dinner is going to be some damn cottage cheese, but I made the girls a pan of chicken/brocolli alfredo (it's enough to last a few days as I may never cook for any of these ingrates again!) and for the boyfriend I made honey-garlic sticky chicken. Like...a whole chicken. So again... will last a few days.
Other eats:
- breakfast sandwich
- Salad with grilled chicken and some beef mixed
- A Power Crunch Bar
- I'm about to get into this cottage cheese
Lots of water as I've been working on it!
