Another beautiful day here in Illinois. Lily and I have our 3.2 miles in already and will do another 11/2 miles after supper. Have a busy day today with a food pantry order coming in,senior meal baking and cleanup to do and getting the camper ready to leave for a two day shoot tomorrow afternoon. QOTD we rarely lock our house unless out of town overnight but I have locked my keys in the car twice--once at the gas station and once at the grocery store. I was also locked in my basement by my oldest son when he was first walking. The little old lady who lived here before had a simplementation slide latch at the bottom of the door. My mother in law came and rescued me when hubby couldn't get me on the phone. I was pregnant at the time so was a sobbing emotional mess. Rudy was fine though he had dumped cereal and formula all over the floor. Lock disappeared right away needless to say. Post op 4 years 9 months and weight at 117.4 today. Here's the food for maintenance today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz salmon 1/2 c carrots D 31/2 oz ground beef 1/2 c carrots S P3 Pak. Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices that move you one step closer to your goal!

You'd asked for my low carb ****tail sauce recipe -- and I thought it would get lost on the other post --

I start with my own low-sugar ketchup recipe (you can use low sugar Heinz, if you prefer spending 8x more for tomatoes)

Kat's Low Carb Ketchup
4 ounce can tomato paste
6-8 ounce can tomato sauce
1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons white vinegar
1/4 cup water, or enough to get the right consistency Liquid Stevia or Splenda to equal about 1/4 c. of reg. sugar. For me, that's about 18 drops of stevia
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Simmer for an hour and then chill. Makes 32 T servings: 6 Calories; trace Fat; trace Protein; 2g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 1.5g Net Carbs

Then, I use that to make Kat's Low Carb ****tail Sauce:

1 cup sugar-free ketchup

2-3 tablespoons prepared horseradish (I like it HOT!)

1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice (and yes, the fresh DOES make a difference)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

red pepper to taste (again, I like spicy)

Mix and chill. Makes 16 T : 8.5 calories; trace Fat; trace Protein; 2.5 g Carbs.

Good morning everyone! I hope your day is going well. Yesterday your QOTD inspired me to get crazy and start on some of the work we need to get done in the yard. Holy cow, cutting down cactus and burning the wood pile and shoveling is WORK! I was sooooo exhausted by the time I went inside for the evening around 8. Weird thing though was my muscles all started to cramp terribly. I even found a group of muscles in my neck that I didn't even know existed. I took some extra Magnesium and the cramps went away. Stranger thing is I just had labs drawn last week and the results showed everything is in great ranges, even Mg. I wonder if there is something else I might be lacking. I figure probably just need to stay more hydrated...I'm so bad about not drinking enough water.

QOTD: I haven't been locked out but my kids have. One of my daughter's managed to get in through a window once. I used to leave my house unlocked because I was so worried they would get locked out but my Guy insists that is nuts and locking must always happen. Now the kids are really good about keeping their keys with them.

Menu: B: Greek yogurt and strawberries (skipped the granola this morning to bump my carb count down a bit), L: Ground beef and Italian sausage in spaghetti sauce; D: Ham steak with peas; S: Granola bar (making up for breakfast I guess); ES: Apple with Greek yogurt; Totals: Cal 952; Protein 76, Carb 92, Fat 31

Accountability: Weight is down to 124 today, burned lots of calories yesterday I think. Will probably bounce back up. No smoking is going good.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

~Elizabeth

My understanding is the Magnesium blood test is not a very accurate one. My personal experience has been that sometimes I need to be at the the end of normal to feel normal to feel right- since surgery...

I was getting abdominal muscle tightness at night, and found splitting my 400mg Magnesiun glycinate dose to morning and evening made a difference rather then taking it all in the morning....

People don't often mention this- but calcium effects your muscles cramping too. When I was having muscle spasms after PS, the Doc was immediately 'how's your magnesium and calcium?' oops...I had been forgetting to take them...

I also keep those mini cans of low sodium V8 juice on hand- they are only 35 calories and have a great potassium boost if I need it.

I saw an article one time on how to tell if cramps were from low potassium or low magnesium...wish I still had it for you...
