Pre op diet started today. 2 weeks until surgery!
I've been slowly losing for the past six months (18lbs down) and today I started my Pre op. My doctor used a strict ketotic diet rather than shakes, so it could be worse, but I am hungry! However, two weeks from now I'll be through surgery (lap band revision to RNY) and I couldn't be more excited!
what foods are on your ketones diet?
It's essentially 2 oz of lean protein for breakfast and 3 for lunch and dinner. Also one small serving of fat per meal. I can also have 20g of carbs from veggies a day. So it's strict, but not all liquid! :)
it could be the carbs from the veggies making you hungry, unless you are eating very low carb ones, like brocolli.

Good luck! I know it's hard, but it will become easier for you.
Right now, we are doing a Meat Week Challenge -- some of us are AMAW (All Meat All Week) -- which is pretty similar to a ketogenic diet. Feel free to pop in each day -- at least you will find a lot of other people eating similarly to you and perhaps find it supportive.
I eat very ketogenically and I swear, once you get past the first few days, it becomes much easier.
