Would love some opinions on my weight please
on 6/6/17 8:11 am
So I have now hit around 148lbs. My goal was anywhere from 135-145 because I was at 135/136 for years and really felt comfortable there. I am almost 5'11" and have a small frame. I am 58 years old. My bariatric surgeon told me at 155 I should stop and that if I have plastic surgery for my tummy (gotta love that flap) my body would be in great shape. Several people recently have told me I am trying to lose too much weight. According to BMI charts both 135/145 are within normal BMI limits. What do you guys think? I really would love to hit 135.
Also - on reading different peoples comments I see people posting about wearing size 8 clothes and they are at my weight. I'm wearing some 14's and mostly 12's - where are these size 8's and 10's people are referring to? Maybe its just the fact that women's clothes vary so much?
Thanks in advance for your input -
Ceci
5'11"?? and only 148, wearing a 14 and 12?
Or are you 5'1" tall?
I'm 5'5" tall, weighing in around 142 and I'm pretty squarely in a size 8, with a couple of odd 6's thrown in to make me feel good. Medium tops, with a few Smalls thrown in for vanity sizing.
I want to be around 135-138 for maintenance. I'm pretty happy where I am. I'm 52, and don't want my face to droop much more! LOL

So far 80 pounds lost!
I'm having a revision on 6/20,so I've been through that whole "you're losing too much, you're gonna blow away" etc. This especially occurred after my tummy tuck, I was comfortably in size 10 long pants. I have a large frame, but I remember going through months of being 14s,then 12s,then 10s-and it took months. Your body tries to maintain at each phase. It takes awhile to achieve that homeostasis where biologically your BODY is comfortable. Be patient, it'll happen for you. As for the people... Although they don't deserve a response, tell them your doctor says you're healthy & that's all that really matters to you. Some are just uncomfortable with your weight loss & have genuine concern - but some are jealous. Unfortunately it's hard to tell the difference when it's such an emotional issue for you. Good job! I think you're rocking it!
Another thing, my frame is large (built like dad), and when at my thinnest my bottoms were 10 or 12s (not trying to be sexy at work - I'm a substance abuse counselor) but my Topsail always be larges bc of my shoulders.
I think your height is written incorrectly.... I am 5'11 and even with RNY, my 'healthy BMI' goal weight is 175-180. The surgeon thinks 220-200 is more 'realistic' though. I would be extremely surprised, even with a 'small' frame, that your goal would be 135-145 with that height.

I think your lifetime goal may be around 170. It is normal to look too small during the first two years after RNY.
By the third year, the malabsorption from the surgery is pretty well gone and bounce-back regain of 20 pounds is very common.
At 148, you very likely will not lose more unless you really cut calories.
Women's sizes are all over the place and I have clothes from size 4 to size Large, depending on the brand and style. I just try clothes on and wear the size that I feel comfortable in. Nobody sees the labels anyway and I often cut them out off.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Once you leave the obese BMI range one's frame really becomes a factor in determining our true healthy weight.
I'm definitely not gifted vertically but I'm broad shouldered and hipped. The last time I had a BMI under 25 may have been as an adolescent. Many guys my height can wear small shirts and have a 30" waist.
Have you had your bodyfat measured? That may be a good guide for you. Maybe you need to focus on becoming more fit and not losing more weight on the scale.
Our body frames are definitely all different. I am 5'7, weigh 140, and generally wear a size 6. My measurements are 36-27-36.
