DAY 2 - AMAW/CAMAW - post your menu here!
on 6/6/17 10:09 am
I don't consider it a fad diet because frankly, it's how I eat all the time. It is very sustainable -- I've been doing this for nearly four years.
For me, the benefit of Meat Week is that it helps me clean up some areas that I may have started to slip slightly. For example, I am not using cream in my coffee this week -- since I drink 5 to 7 cups a day -- that adds up to nearly 100 calories that are are pretty pointless. I am not eating any nuts. A quarter cup of almonds (28 g) is nearly 200 calories -- something I sometimes eat quite mindlessly. That may not seem bad, but considering that in maintenance that 200 calories can be the difference in staying at my goal weight or the beginning of re-gain -- it's enough to examine for five days.
The benefit for some other people is that it pretty much gets the sugar/carbs out of their system. It gives them a detox from sugars/carbs to reassert the satiety of their pouch or sleeve -- and more, to get rid of some of the cravings that come back as one starts slipping more and more carbs/sugars into their diet. You can think more clearly when you aren't jones-ing for a sugar-fix. It builds confidence in one's ability to have power over cravings/addiction to foods.
Finally, it brings a sense of community. We are all in this together -- we can brainstorm ways to overcome our battles with food and obesity -- and cheer each other on and give constructive help when someone is struggling. Newbies, middles and vets are here working towards a common goal.

Its funny you pretty much asked the exact same thing back when we did an AMAW in March 2016. Here is a link to your posts for reference and to refresh your memory on what this is about, do read the whole page down to the bottom
And this is now as it was then a FUN five day challenge to come together as a community and support each other, sorry that you just don't get it, I would love to take time to explain it out to you in detail but I think I need to spend the rest of my day thinking of what I can/will eat

What scares me is that he would let you and like it!!! LOL
KATHY - I am further out than you are, but I need a reminder, now and then, that my tool is still very much in working order...
I very much agree, with everything already stated. In addition, I love seeing what others are eating, and especially love seeing the pictures. I get lots of new ideas

I don't think of this as a diet that I think about all day long because diets have a shelf life & short term success. I think about the long haul & during this time it gives me some time to think about some bad habits or even doing too much "good habits", where it ended up becoming bad, had sunk in.
This is something that I can do for life, but like so much in life, pitfalls can & does happen & sometimes you don't correct bad habits right away. You can also discover things about yourself that you never thought you could do & being with a bunch of people who also have similar goals can be just what you need to get back on track, or fine tune a well oiled machine.
It's not really a diet, but a lifestyle that we all signed up for as soon we got on the table.
Hope this clears it up somewhat.

Good morning. One of these days I'll get myself together enough to take pictures! Day one went ok. I had to white knuckle some carb cravings in the middle of the day, but I made it through, although I wanted to kill the person who popped popcorn right around the time of the 3:00 water break. Damn them.
My plan:
B: chicken salad (really just chopped chicken with a mix of greek yogurt and mayo with garlic and onion powders
L: skirt steak
D: NY steak
S: I have with me; BBQ chicken breast, ham and cheese, yogurt and COFFEE (My carbs will be higher because of the milk, but I guess I'm ok with that)
Totals: Cal: 1005; Protein: 130g; Fat: 41g; Carbs: 23g (lattes, why can't I quit you?????) (total excludes the yogurt)
Good morning Daisy and meat crew! Very successful day for me yesterday... although I did have a bit of longing for peanuts and a veggie tray that was served at dinner. I was also not hungry in the evening. Day 2!
B: Premier Protein chocolate with Miralax and coffee, Dannon greek yogurt
L: Dannon greek yogurt, 1 oz cheese and 2 oz salami
D: 4 oz hamburger patty with 1 oz cheese
S: 1 oz Beef jerky, diet cran something in water
Totals: 823 calories, 105 protein, 41 carbs, 36 fat
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
