Because AMAW is animal flesh only. And AMAW-Critter is animal flesh and anything that comes from an animal, like cheese, eggs, etc.

Daisy posted some guidelines; they are a few posts down from this one. You might want to check them out.

So all my years on OH people would post about regain or getting off their plan. A person had come up with a diet called the "5 day pouch test". The diet was drinking nothing but protein shakes to "reset" your pouch. You can't "reset" your pouch but this fad diet did get people off carbs. I don't know how many times that someone was going to start this "diet". I didn't read much about people finishing it or staying around with a maintenance weight.

This challenge is getting back to just protein. No bread, crackers, fruit, vegetables. It's a carbohydrate detox but you aren't choking down protein shakes that are nasty and don't fill you up.

It was born out of a joke about brisket I believe but it's something that's grown here at OH. It's a way to get back to basics.

You are very new post op. You got other things to think about I'm sure. When I was at your stage it was "how can I get my protein down?" "what can I eat and not hurl". Fun stuff.

About peanut butter. It's a great source of magnesium. It has a lot of fat. Most have added sugar. It's very calorie dense. It's really not the best choice for protein and a lot of people struggle with it because it is easy to get down.

I love peanut butter.

I feel like a proud Mama (snif snif) with what you just wrote! Thanks for posting that for the newbies! And you are correct it started off as a joke between me & Grim (I think) and it might have been ham not brisket but regardless I love how you explained it above, thanks Deb!!

I would rather have the 3 week stall pinned but that's just me.

Also, not to be a spoil sport, but a serving of peanut butter (2 Tablespoons/32 grams) is highly over-rated as a protein source.

When you consider that peanut butter averages 6 to 8 measly grams of protein for a whopping average of 180 to 200 calories -- with 7 to 12 grams of carbs/3 to 6 grams of sugar per serving.

You can eat a far more satiating serving of grilled chicken breast (3 oz/85 grams) for 140 calories, 26 grams of protein and less than one gram of carbs/0 sugars...

Thanks for bringing the science.

I didn't eat peanut butter or bananas for over 14 years with renal failure. After my transplant it was hard to maintain my Magnesium and potassium.

I eat one small banana and 1 tablespoon PB every day. I do it to keep my levels up and because I "can" eat it. I had years of medically prescribed diets.

I love that meal.

But not this week.

Exactly! I consider myself to be very FORTUNATE, in that I don't even really care for PB. My BFF totally loves the stuff, and has to literally have it hidden and locked away, to keep her out of it...I like a little, over apple slices, once in a great while..

After reading your post...I may NEVER have it again!

Wonder how chicken will taste, on apple slices...

I also would probably snort peanut butter like cocaine, so there's also that.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
