I totally agree! I'm on day 4 and I really miss my coffee! I did pick up some decaf and put pet of my vanilla protein shake in it and it wasn't too bad. At least it gave me a sense of having it! I did so good over the weekend I even managed to skip my one a day allowed dairy snack. I'm scheduled for my rny on next Wednesday. I've been battling a cold the last couple days so hope that doesn't hold me up!

I think nearly everyone struggled with it! You certainly are not alone.

My pre-op was over the Christmas holidays -- I was sure I was going to die. Seriously. I was a diabetic at the time, and I was convinced that I was going to die. Addictions are crazy things -- and our minds will try to convince us of anything -- to justify fueling that addiction.

There's a lot to learn about ourselves and our relationship to food during the pre-op diet.

You got this. Stay strong. You are definitely NOT the first to struggle.

I am continuously surprised at the differences in procedures and advice given by the various clinics and surgeons we have all seen. I was on the liquid diet for 3 weeks prior to surgery, and it was high protein protein drinks or water - nothing else...NOTHING. I did it, and truthfully I didn't find it that hard as the protein kept me from being hungry so i knew the desire to eat was all in my head...but I was terrified that it would jeopardize my surgery if I ate anything so I didn't...yet I read here that many of you did. Strange. Good luck!

I foubd that the pre op diet was the worst part of the whole surgery/journey.

I kept really really busy with my hands. I learned to knit, played video games, coloured, went for walks. That was the only thing that helped. I stayed home for the most part because going anywhere that had food almost killed me. Even visiting someone at their home was hard.

In my case, things got easier after about 3 days. I do have to admit that I had a really bad day about a week in and caved, but then told myself that it was actually dangerous for me to have anything in my stomach going into surgery...that kept me motivated.

Also, I lost a crazy amount of weight pre-op, almost 20 pounds!, so that kept me motivated to.

You can absolutely do this. Just stay away from anywhere that has food.

Dropping the weight has definitely helped to keep me motivated I think I've lost over 5lbs these last 2 days and that is amazing. Hunger is starting to curb itself so it's not as bad

Keep it up -- it really does get a lot easier past the 4th or 5th day.
