Good morning friends. Beautiful day here in Illinois and Lily and I have already done our 3.2 mile walk. We will do another 11/2 after supper and I will walk up to the food pantry in a bit--about another mile too. QOTD is a good one today. I can't list them all but here's a few:I would never wear a swimsuit in public, wear bright colors or statement jewelry, sit in a booth,go shopping unless hubby made me,walk to food pantry instead of drive or exercise every day. Life is overall just so much better! Post op 4 years 9 months and weight at 117.2 today. Still just don't feel hungry but sometimes that's a good thing. Food for maintenance today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz ground beef with salsa 1/2 c carrots D 31/2 oz salmon 1/2 c green beans S P3 Pak. Have a great day everyone and make some smart and conscious choices that move you one step closer to your goals!

The booths!

They were starting to scare me. My boobs often found themselves sitting practically on the table... and just about every single time we went to eat, food landed on them...

I can't believe how much cleaner my blouses stay now!

The booths still scare me... but I fit in all of them quite comfortably now, much to my shock when it happens!

Did you ever feel hungry after surgery? Or was it like a switch turned off? I keep hoping that the hunger will diminish. Most of the time it's in my head and I can address it fine, but if I've missed a meal or snack I get FAMISHED like worse than before. Like I can feel that I've only had a couple hundred calories and I'm STARVING. It seems to cause bad choices at night if I don't get a snack in after lunch.

Maybe it's because I'm only 9 weeks out? but I eat what I think I SHOULD eat... but I'm still starving, eat until I think I'm full, then the REAL FULL feeling arrives and I'm miserable!!!!

That's why I still have to measure out my food... because my stomach gets too full if left to my own devices! LOL

I even take my food and ask for a to-go container BEFORE my food gets there, and I put it up while it's still hot... then I only have a portioned out amount to eat. If I don't feel full after that, I wait (very impatiently) for the 30-45 minutes to be up and I make a nice delicious hot latte (or stop and buy one), and then viola, I feel full and satisfied!

I'm pretty good at measuring and pre boxing up extra foods... until I'm in a situation where I'm famished.

It took me months to learn what 'hungry' for real real meant vs 'head hunger'. I honestly can say that prior to about 3 months after surgery I really had no idea what 'my body needs fuel' felt like. I had only been responding to emotions and desires that I THOUGHT were hunger. Once I had the epiphany, "Oh wow..I can actually feel when my body needs fuel in it," that was my personal turning point. That was when I really started to work on the head/emotional addiction aspects in a way I never imagined I would prior to surgery.

My 2 cents, really start listening to your body. Wait... wait...wait...wait some more. Feel what hungry really feels like... then build from there.

I spent a lifetime feeding my head and heart food and that almost killed me. Heads and hearts don't need to eat food. They don't burn calories or carbs. Heads and hearts aren't the gas tanks of our bodies. They are the seats of our souls and they are energized by experiences, joys, and loves.

Learning to feel the difference... wow...that is my biggest victory in this whole RNY journey.
