Good morning everyone!

Nothing went as planned yesterday and while some of that was disappointing it still ended up being a good day. Today we are expecting more rain and don't really have a whole lot planned at all so we'll see how the day plays out. Laundry needs to happen and while I'm downstairs I should try on and bag up some more clothes from all the piles that are growing down there. A while ago I stopped bring all my laundry back up to my closet because the variety of sizes were just too much to keep straight in my small bedroom so I've been hanging, folding and sorting them downstairs. A lot of my old stuff has left already but there are still lots of things down there that I need to part with.

QOTD I've always had an interest in financial planning. My Dad was big on planning and saving, and got me started with my RRSPs when I was 20. When we bought our house I did withdraw it all under the Home Buyers plan that we have here in Canada but after next year it will all be paid back (to myself). Years ago I strongly considered a career change into financial planning and took all the courses required to be a CFP but I finished that in 2008... not a good time to enter the industry. So as far as investing in my future I have my house, RRSPs and a TFSA (tax free savings account). When I retire I'll receive my Canada pension but I won't have a company pension so the majority of the planning is on me.

6 months post op

B- coffee w/ 1/2 chocolate premier

L- chicken, goat cheese, tomato and cucumber

D- depends if we end up at Costco today or not

S- coffees w/ remaining premier

Have a great Sunday!!

Good morning!

Today, I am sort of heading on my next work trip. BUT, I'm stopping along the way and spending the night at my cousin's lake house. She had a baby a few months ago and so I will get to meet her (the baby) and get in some snuggles! Possibly, steal that cute baby if the opportunity presents itself!!

QOTD: Oh, retirement. I worry about that. I'm almost 32. For six years, I worked at a University and was in the state pension system. I'm vested, but I don't know (when I retire) really how much that is going to give me. So, at my new company, I have been putting 10% of my salary into a 401k. Starting last year, I also started contributing to a Roth IRA and have been maxing that out. My company also issues stock as part of my salary, so I have just been living off the paycheck each month and pretending the stock doesn't exist. Then, in the future I will use that for maybe a house someday - or just let part of it sit for retirement? We shall see! I'm not really all that financially savvy.

Food today will be a toss up since I'm traveling and staying with people. Who knows what they will have available! But, usual breakfast and some snacks

Breakfast - two scambled eggs, turkey sausage crumbles, cheese

Taking on the road with me: Beef Jerky, chocolates

Leaving everything else up to the hostess!

I have been cutting WAY back this week to 1500 calories and being quite active - aiming for a 2 lb/week loss. I got on the scale this morning and was down almost 7 lbs from Monday. Damn hormones/water weight lol. But, I'm on a roll... so hopefully I can keep going when I hit the road this week.

Morning RNY'ers!! So this morning I accomplished one of my New Years resolutions-- I did a straight 5 mile run! I was so excited! I'm just gonna keep at 5 miles for the the summer and pick my next goal in the fall.

Qotd: working in HR I transition a lot of folks to retirement. I'm always interested in their plans and I can see their retirement accounts to see how well they've saved. It's what motivated me continuously up my contributions to my 457b plan. So I have a pension and my 457b. I've got 20 years before I reach retirement age for my job, As long as I continue to up my contributions- and dig myself out of debt I think I'll be in good shape. What I absolutely will not do is work beyond retirement. I see way to many folks, work and work and work, then retire, then we get notified of their death. I want some time to enjoy what I've worked all these years for.

196.5 today, 2 yrs out

m1: protein shake, 1/2 Belgian waffle

m2: Greek yogurt, berries, granola

m3: turkey burger coleslaw

m4: shrimp

We Can Do Hard Things

fairly productive day yesterday, and sunny and warm to boot. Rain again today - boo. I need to spend at least another hour cleaning something in this house (that is my goal - an hour a day until this place sparkles!), and I still need to get some new athletic shoes since I didn't get to that yesterday.

QOTD: reading "Your Money or Your Life" in the early 90s completely turned my life around money-wise. I used to have a ton of debt - car, student loans, credit cards - and shopped a lot. No more! I am a huge saver now. I started saving - and then investing - after reading that book, and i still do. I give myself a reasonable allowance each month - the rest goes into my money market fund (for emergencies) and/or into mutual funds (we each have a 403b plus Roth IRAs). We also have state pensions. We used to save about 20% of our income - and then once we paid the house off, we lived off one income and saved/invested the other. This helped us quite a bit when my husband lost his job last year because we were already used to living on one income - although obviously our rate of saving has plummeted since then. I was originally planning to retire this summer - a few years early - but I need to wait until DH gets another full-time job because, although we should be able to swing it financially, we need the health insurance. At one time, Obamacare could have filled in the slight gap we have, but God knows what will happen to that now. So until DH gets a job with benefits, I'll need to stay put. Boo.

23 months out (almost 2 years!) and in maintenance:

B: homemade Greek yogurt, flaxseed, strawberries

S: coffee with half & half, vanilla cantaloupe protein shake

L: maybe carnitas (with tomatoes, lettuce, and plain Greek yogurt)

D: making a Moroccan beef tagine today, so that

probably another Greek yogurt or SF protein pudding if I can afford the calories

exercise: hopefully Aqua Zumba if they're offering it today (Memorial Day weekend, you know..)

I should add that "Your Money or Your Life" authors have kind of unconventional (and not very good) views on health care and investing. But their views on saving and the meaning of money are spot on. So if you read it, you'll have to take parts of it with a grain of salt

unrelated note - I tracked down my fifth grade teacher last night on the internet (only two of my elementary school teachers are still alive) and have been PM'ing with her this morning. Geek out!!

Good morning! I am not sure yet what we are doing today. We might hop in the car and take a drive somewhere-maybe go to Ikea or something.

QOTD: I currently contribute to my 401k but it's not nearly enough of a plan. We really need to sit down and discuss it.

Menu for today: B: latte, eggbeaters, and turkey sausage links L: TBD S: latte, Buddig turkey pack, yogurt, granola and Brazil nuts (I already have this packed in case we hit the road) D: TBD

E: 5 miles on the treadmill this morning

V/W ok track.

I hope everyone has a great day!
