1 year surgiversary post (almost)
Actually, next Friday is my surgiversary but I don't think I'll have wifi access so I'm posting a week early. It's been an awesome year, thanks in large part to all the support from the OH members. Prior to surgery I had a 6-mo. required nutrition/education program which was great and helped a lot to get me ready for surgery. But post-op, any information/follow-up from my program has been minimal. Visits with the surgeon basically included a brief visit with the surgeon and a "you're doing great" and that was it. OH has answered by day to day questions. Like someone said, surgeons are great for cutting, not so much for follow-up. I've had no significant complications but NSV's out the wazooo. I can now run up and down stairs rather than having to hold on to the banister and do one step at a time because my knees hurt so bad. That's the biggest NSV for me. Clothes have gone from 24-26 or 3X to 6-8 or Small/Medium. Quality of life is so much better and I am so grateful. Do I have saggy skin? Absolutely, but I expected that after decades of gaining and loosing hundreds of pounds. If I had the resources I would probably do plastics, but realistically I don't see that in my future. At least I'm able to hide it with clothing. I'm sort of at goal. I've changed my goal several times during the process and still think I'd like to loose 5 or so more lbs. to have some wiggle room. The hard part is really just beginning - the job of maintaining the weight loss. The surgeon doesn't fix your head. I don't post as often as I should, but I intend to continue to be a regular to the site to keep on track. And My Fitness Pal will be my forever food logging friend. Bottom line... to all the vets - THANK YOU!!! To all the newbies - stick with it and come to this site often - it is so worth it.

Hasn't this past year flown by?! I'm with you on the 5 or so more pounds, but I'm happy, healthy, and hopeful that I can continue this journey for the rest of my life! It's never really over, as we're definitely learning at this point.
Hope you're doing well :)
