Hello, all. Such gorgeous pics, Daisy!

QOTD: A couple of things I would like to do: I would really like to have a group of people who listen to and collect the stories of refugees--about their home before they had to leave, and their journey here if they feel they can tell it, using photos if they happen to have any--or even photos of their homeland found online--then put each person's story into a book for them, and then use donated funds (or services) to print a small book for each refugee. I'm thinking like the kind of book that Shutterfly does. I think businesses would probably donate the printing of the books. If the people agreed, I would also put their stories into a larger collection that could be published for the general population, to help us all be more compassionate. ("What if their stories were our stories?")

My second idea would be to do writing and music and art workshops for children in need. (I have actually done a lot of volunteer work in the schools and our community doing just this kind of thing for many many years.)

Yesterday, I did well with my cut-the-carbs commitment--until I didn't. Overall, I did very well. But here's what happened. end of school choir concert. We have a fabulous choir program at our middle school--370 students in the choirs! Both of my boys are in the choirs. There were two concerts. So we left for the school at 5;45, and did not return until 10:30. We had no idea it would go so late--had promised the kids a treat. I was so hungry--and agitated about something I won't go into (mourning something)--that I gave into the cookie. Sigh.

But, "Don't let the perfect get in the way of the good"! I did track everything in MFP. I am holding the course. I need to get off the weight I gained during my 3 mos of surgery recovery--and, I need to be confident I can maintain (or take off small regain) in the future. This is the first real challenge I've had in that since surgery.

PHOTOS.

My 19 yr old son is on a religious service mission in Korea. He sent these photos recently--cherry blossoms and a misty garden.

One photo of my yard this morning.

Finally, photos of my husband's garden plants. He starts hundreds of seeds every year. He puts them in these storage bins as mini greenhouses. Ten boxes of starts, plus there are more starts in our bathroom! He puts them outside every morning for the sun, then into the garage every night while it is still too cold. When it warms a little, then into the ground they go!

Good Morning All and TGIF!

I have no major plans other than straightening up my messy home. I've made an appointment to see my surgeon regarding the pain--it's mimicking the hiatal hernia pain & now the top of my stomach pokes out. UGGGGhhh! I want to be done with this--I wish the remnant stomach could be removed.

QOTD: I would open a youth center in my neighborhood to provide free tutoring, SAT Training, counseling & mentoring along with daily afternoon meals. It would be a safe place for young people. I would also include field trips all around the Los Angeles area. As a university employee, I am both amazed and saddened that I meet young people who did not leave the comforts of their neighborhood. Many have not been to the beach!

M1: Lots of chai with vanilla protein shake

M2: Burger with cheddar cheese

M3: ??

Vitamins: Yes

Fluids: Yes

Exercise: Walking the circumference of the campus about 4 miles

Have a great weekend everyone!
