Are there any members over 6 feet tall that has had the surgery. I have been very athletic up until 10 years ago. I have a solid frame.

My question is, is it or was it easy for you to lose the weight?

I'm 6'2 355lbs

Hi, I'm 5'10 and was 338 at my HKW. I wouldn't say it was easy for me to lose the weight, but I worked my tool and lost 150 lbs (in about 16 months). I didn't feel like I lost any faster than anyone else though. Age does play a factor (typically) it seems like the younger you are the better. Hope that helps

I'm 6ft and lost 120lbs to below goal (BMI 21) in less than 6 months. It was a breeze for me at 42.

My stats are in my signature. But I don't think height has anything to do with ease of loss. Higher BMI makes it easier to lose, because you have more excess weight to lose.

The biggest factor in success is what's between your ears.

I agree with Grim 100%... Height isn't going to effect weight loss. As far as goal weight goes, you won't really know until you get there...As I got close I took it 5lbs at a time. I couldn't have imagined being the weight I am now as even possible or desirable.... but here I am and very happy about it. No regrets.

I was post menopausal, low thyroid and was 100lbs post-surgery down by 6 months... about 20+ pre-surgery.

I am not over 6' but think I can answer your question: weight loss surgery, no matter how tall, will make it easy to lose weight--- in the beginning. When the honeymoon period of effortlessly losing weight ends and the maintenance period begins, it becomes harder again.

I am almost 5'11" and just got down to 149 lbs. My highest weight was around 245. I don't think height has any effect at all on my weight loss journey. It has been about the same for me as the others who had surgery around my time. I still have about 10 lbs or so to lose before I want to maintain.

I am 6'0" and 61 years old. I had a bypass almost 3 weeks ago. I have not always been obese and would not consider myself athletic. My pre-surgery BMI was 38. I lost 20 lbs. pre-surgery and 18 lbs since. Had to change a lot of old habits that I knew were bad for me. That was the hard part but knowing that I had committed to WLS and that my doctor was requiring at least 14 lbs gone before he would schedule my surgery (that is nothing compared to what some people are required to lose!) After surgery you have to follow a strict diet. If you don't you could end up damaging yourself and you are not really all that hungry. Right now I am finishing up the 2nd stage of the liquid diet (creamed soups and yogurt allowed also). Tuesday I start the pureed foods. Looking forward to that! Right now my only exercise is walking. Good luck to you! The people on here have the best advice - their advice and support have gotten me through this!
